there really aren't OHV parks around WA.......we have public lands that have trail systems. lowland woods, mountain singletrack, and open desert. you need ORV tabs or a street plate for your bike and a discover pass for state DNR land or a NW forest pass for federal land ( generally). closest open riding to ft lewis right now is Tahuya state forest outside of the town of Belfair and is lowland woods riding.

If you are a soldier stationed at ft lewis ( first of all THANK you for serving your country), send a pm to member "Old Grunt" on here as he organizes rides at tahuya for troops stationed around the area.

Ft Lewis actually has an OHV area withing the forts boundaries. Its just past the gate near the rifle range. The gate you drive out to get to it is the one where they wash the mud off the rigs area training. I am not sure the name of the gate. You can get to it via the entrance on the back way to Roy/McKenna highway via the Roy "Y".
If you mean away from the base, Capital Forest, GPNF, Straddleline are the closer areas.

Jack,
If you can get me a contact number on post I can bring volunteers to clean up your trails at no cost to the post. We will probably need the JAG to sign off on it.

If you are a member of US Armed Forces I would like to introduce you to the Troop Support Brigade. We have organized to provide free recreational activities to armed forces personnel. Our favorite form of entertainment is dirt bike riding. We can provide the bikes and riding gear or if you have your own so much the better. Our next available date to schedule a ride is 7 April. You can be our guest of honor and bring a buddy or family member if you like. Please PM me for more information.

Dutch,
Its probably not worth the trouble to try to get people authorized to go out there. You know the government creates so many hoops to jump through that it would be a pain. I'll just send them a message and let them know it needs some fixing up. they do get out there to work on it sometimes. i've seen a bucket loader filling in some of the lakes in the pits before.

Understood. Been through a lot of those hoops. We have a Troop Support Ride brewing with Eric on Saturday 30 Apr. 0930 meet up. 1000 trail time. Can you make it and bring other troops? This will be a good weekend in Tahuya as the Desert 100 will draw mass riders to Odessa.

Your location near JBLM could dove tail nicely with a training program we want to develop in the Troop Support Brigade. One of the troops that came out earlier this year had never even been on a bicycle before. He loved it and wants more. I will PM you.
