What surprises me is how affordable Pirelli's are even compared to Maxxis and Kenda.  MT16 and MX Extra are a lot cheaper.
That doesn't seem to be the case for me.  I really like the Kenda Millville sticky on my MX bike and I just got a front for $50 shipped to my door.  I can't touch any Pirelli's for that much.  Given my satisfaction with Kenda, I'm considering a Parker DT rear instead of an MT16 on my trail bike. I mean, I really like the MT16; much better than a Maxxis IT and not even in the same class as the D739, IMO, but I can find the Kenda for a few bucks cheaper.  Does anyone have any experience with the Parker and the MT16?  Am I making a mistake?  Should I just stick with the old standby?  Any deals on an MT16 anywhere?

Must be older tires as you can't even get original Millvilles except in Mini bike sizes.  Your dealer can't replace his inventory for $50.  Tires went up tremendously this past year. The hot Kenda is the Millville II.

This question was already asked in a different thread, there was no reply there.

Is the MT16 Garacross the same (new name?) as the famed MT16?

The MT16 Garacross is actually the old name.  The Garacross name goes back to the early 70s for sure.  MT03 and MT07 etc.  The MT16 works quite well everywhere.  A very good tire.

Yes, and I'm confused, as here in Hungary the dealers have only the Garacross in their current list. Also the Pirelli site doesn't list any MT16 any more:

its hard to find in Europe , MT16 is made in Brasil for America region.
but some dealers bring this tire in Europe:

MT16 or MT16 Garacross or Garacross is the same tire, the never are metic sized ex. 120/100-18, the older in inches ex. 5.10x18

this site has big pics with the tires:

a great enduro tire that you find easy in Europe is

the 130/90-18 size is my favorite tire

Thanks, dmikel, it's good to know they are the same tires, we have Garacross available here.

We use the Metzeler 6days in the front. For the rear, my favorite now is the Bridgestone M404, but I will give the MT16 a try at the next tire change.

Tell your dealer that Parts Europe should have them.

I run a MT16 rear on my XR. Works real good, just adjust air pressure to suit the terrain.

I run the MX eXtra on the front and rear and am VERY happy with them for the rocky Alberta terrain here.

Extra here and absolutely love them! Outlast the XCMS by a long shot, the XCMS may have hooked up a little better when new though. I will be using the extra from now on.

MT16 and MX Extra are ok (i have tried last season the MX Extra; this season MT16), but the best pirelli tire for woods in my opinion is SCORPION PRO FIM, very good grip everywhere.

But MT16 or MX Extra last much longer.

This is the set-up I run and it really is a good combo.

I run the Pro front 80% of the time.  Great tire.

Wonder about the MXMH, how does it compare to the MT16? Better yet, how do those last compared to the Maxxis IT

The rear is also great, the pros use this tire at RedBull Romaniacs where they meet the most varied terrain: mud, grass, hardpack, rocks, clay, foliage, water, slippery roots ...

Mx extra is a great rear tyre.  Heaps of grip in mud and loose loam, really durable in rocky terrain. Not great traction on hard pack greasy stuff but hey it is a wicked tyre 95% of the time. I would buy it again
