That's too bad, usually the 3.0 will out last the truck itself (well, on pre-95's at least).  V8 time . . . lol

You run that thing out of oil or have a pump failure?
Old age?

i bought it with coolant in the oil a year ago. found the water pump fins rotted and bent out and wore through the timing cover causing coolant to flow to the oil. fixed that and it ran diecent for a while but the damage was done. i would just throw a junk yard motor in but every junk yard in my area is out and they cant keep them in stock. (did my research and these 3.0 are POSs)

im just gonna fix this motor up like new and then sell it. i need a full size truck now, this little guy will make someone else happy.

Actually, they're not a POS.  They're gutless, and don't get any better fuel mileage than the 4.0L, but they're not head cracking, intake leaking, head gasket blowing gremlins like the 4.0 is known to do.

Looks like it starved for oil or oil pressure was too low. Dont press those pins on yourself. It requires a rod heater. You could do it with a torch if careful, but they need to be centered etc. A machine chop charge is minimal and you can probably wait for it if they arent real busy.

ANy rod that had a spun bearing or was knocking, you need to get the end resized to make sure its round. Drop off your new pistons and rods, tell them to resize rids and hand the pistons for you.

Before you go any further, how's the rest of the moving parts, all that metal went everywhere, not to mention the coolant in the oil,  camshaft, bearings , rockers, lifters. etc. it might be cheaper to get a reman shortblock. or even a longblock.

Not to mention that with a longblock, you'd get a warranty behind it.

Do not use "Rock brand" gaskets or plan on doing it all over in about a year.

Not to be confused with http://www.rockauto.com online parts store. The Rock Auto online parts store is first class. I clarified this after seeing a C/H post. I didnt want to slander a perfectly good auto parts store.

Stay away from any auto parts brand that is called "Rock", I mean "Rock Brand"

fords 3.0l has press fit rods. I would take them to a machine shop and have the rods put on the pistons.

Nothing wrong with sourcing your parts from rock auto, just have to choose the better quality parts, felpro, moog, federal mogul, motorcraft etc.  As far as oil pan gaskets, get the ford one with the metal strip in it and the alignment tabs.  The cheapos end up just slipping out over time

C/H, I dont mean "Rock Auto" the parts store, there is actually a brand of gaskets call "Rock", ie Rock Auto Parts" and its not associated with "rockauto.com" at all. That is a fantastic website. I have used it many times.  But the gaskets called "Rock" (not associated with http://www.rockauto.com) are horrible, cheap chinese junk and head gaskets come apart from normal heating/cooling in about a year. Seals like crank, cam leak sooner.

Rock brand gaskets and parts period is junk.

http://www.rockauto.com parts are great.

Look man I would either go with a quality longblock 3.0 or look into a 5.0 V8 swap. Generally can be done for pretty cheap and those engines are easy to come by in decent shape (think fox bodied mustangs and some explorers and mountaineers). Mounts and all that are easy to come by.
