My buddy has a 2011 yz450 and the front end doesnt want to bite at all, he has been working with the suspension and tried everything, it has helped but no majic bullet, last night he rode a dudes 2011 yz450 just like his but the guy has the motor mount relocation brackets that move the motor forward 2mm and he siad the bike is night and day with this change, he said the front end wants to stick, not like a honda or suzuki but way better than the stock setup.

It's not the bike! Look at a guy like Nick Wey, he has jumped back and forth between Yamaha and Kawasaki for the past four years and his results are no better on either one. He is not as talented as Stewart but he is at that level that 99% of us will never know. Take this for what you want but the Sales manager at my local dealership was down at a function in SoCal and was talking with Doug Dubach about this same topic, Dubach said that Stewart is not a good test rider and they struggle to understand what he needs for a set- up. Like I said take it for what it's worth.

so thats why JGR has made motor relocation mounts to move the motor forward? its not the bike - why would a major team go through that effort is there isnt a issue?

The big boy Yami has not been able to turn since it was a 426 and Bubba knew exactly what he was getting when he signed with JGR
My 06 450 pushed in the turns and I'm not that fast. In fact I sold that POS and went back to a 2 stroke and bought the 07 YZ250. That thing sucked too. I should have bought the Suzuki

they make changes to ALL the bikes to taylor them to the riders , moving the engine to change the weight bias is no big deal , and if it helps make a guy more comfortable do it , its just like changing the offset on the triple clamps or the pull rod's to change the handling

It was to help Stewie with the inevitable if not unintended dismount. Apparently his knees were hanging up on the handlebars on the way over, so the figured they needed to increase the rate at which the nose dipped to allow a much smoother ejection. It is all about safety!

Sorry, but what does the front end not biting have to do with crashing in the whoops, whiskey throttling a rhythm section, endoing over a jump, running into the back of another rider, launching off the side of the track? He's lost the front end on occasion, but so has RD, RV, CR, and a host of other riders not on Yammies. Yes, Dr.D makes an engine relocation kit, and apparently so does JGR now, but it didn't change the circumstances of what happened last weekend. Two different riders, but Milsaps didn't seem to have an issue with the bike, is riding beter than he has in years, and has never mentioned tires, or setup holding him back.

That is because Milly has always been JGRs choice for #1 rider and as such have given him an unfair and unequal allocation of resources compared to poor Stewie. "...this bike is a POS, I want what Davy has instead!..Wah!" "Anybody seen my Mr T starter kit layin' around?"

You do realize that the bike is basically custom built for him right? If the bike sucks, then maybe some of his set up input sucks.
The comments about the suspension on stock bikes being sub pa, and therefore his bike being crappy as well, are particularly hilareious. JS7 runs a SHOWA (not KYB) fork, and custom springs built just for JGR. This was all in Dirt Rider last month. His suspension is far from stock, and basically a complete custom set up.
The reason he is performing less well than before is that he has too much money, too much fame, and has lost his passion...

people talk about his issues are new, these are the same problems hes had since being on chevy trucks kawi 125s. when he gets a bad start, he pushes too hard, he crashes. its been the stewart formula since day 1, the yamaha doesnt have issues on starts. stewart has problems with completely losing his starting consistency, its a total crap shoot what you'll get out of him from the gate to turn 1.

Pfffff. If any of us chumps got to ride a JGR Yami set up personally for us, we'd be shocked at how awesome it is.
I do think certain bikes are better for certain styles, especially at that level.
I don't think the bike is bad, but I do think it is bad for him. He needs to change color. It's the only way to know, for him AND his fans.
