The if's should be replaced by maybe's. Problem with all these type of discussions (this entire type of thread) is they attempt to rationalize results other than those that in fact happened. Fact is those 50 years from now will look at the numbers. Simple as that. AND racing is a brutally honest sport. There is a first, second and lower results. They are documented. The G.O.A.T. is the goat because all those who raced against him in a ten year period of time lost more than they won.

Also EVERY generation thinks they had the best...and as a sport evolves so does technique as all these racers push the boundary's new ideas get brought to the main stream. Fact is the best from any one era could be the best in any other as the core attributes required to win remain the same. I get a kick of going back and watching some of the old you tube video's of racers like Bob Hannah, Ricky Johnson, etc. 30 years there will be folks looking back at the 2006 Washugal race between RC & JS saying those guys were....old style and the new stuff would have kicked their tails.

BUT the record books remain emotionless. My bet is 25 years from now RC's amazing ability to raise to the occasion with every new challenge for 10 years will still be a record. As will Stewart's amazing armature career & 125 win record. These two guys were arguably the best ever in any time while in their prime...just unfortunately for JS and with so many before him his career overlapped the G.O.A.T's and ruined his chance to own the record books.

( as a fan..I still believe Stewart on either a Green,Yellow, or even Red bike would be chiseling a littler more at the records set before by RC & Jeremy!    )

Great post............well, all but that silly last line prediction!

What is it with js 7 and his fans!?  Always has an excuse!  Any of those team bikes can win, and he has already proven the bike can win! So how is his bike crap?! Its custom built for him and his style, he chose that team bc he thought he could win with what they have to offer.  Dm18 isn't cryn like a winney lil bia!?  He has no excuses.  Js7 even tried to blame Davey for that stall when he crashed!!  That's such a cop out!  He crashes every main simple as that. He wins heats and a lot ofem, so it isn't the bike stop your cryn and excuses! He's known for always Crashing and throwing away wins. No one else Crystal as much or makes excuses more than js7, period!!  He needs to man up and stop acting like a pre Madonna, money and fame ruined him. I used to likem back in the day but damn he's turned into such a sissy I can't stand him and enjoy seeing him crash and fail!  Just my 2 cents. Now come at me with the hate 'n lol

I'm sure that if they were as fast as Bubba I would have heard of them before

They are fast...might even be National level guys if they were on any other color but blue... Also Sandy tracks might just favor the Yama Axe with its rear weight bias as compared to the rest..

damn it , I did not know that, I guess Paul Whibley is the only guy left for Yamaha fans to root for , that has a shot at a national title.

On Orange now and plan to race the last few Nationals when the Candian season ends.

If he had a chance at the title KTM would have hired him too

KTM is loading up with talent everywhere there are dirt bikes racing

Check out Chad Reeds interview, I think it is probably the most reliable explanation so far as to Stewarts issues this year.

http://vurbmoto.com/...cwilliams/8904/

He basically says that he personally talked to James and says that Stewart wanted to go with Suzuki and spent his entire off season training on one but due to greed he went with JGR for the big paycheck and was forced to ride the Yamaha. Now Stewart doesnt like the bike but he is sort of stuck in a three year deal with JGR and Yamaha.

I personally think the bike is fine it just doesnt suit Stewart, maybe his body type, maybe his style, or maybe he just has it in his head he cant ride the thing. I went through this when I switched from a 2 stroke to a 4 stroke, clearly there is nothing wrong with 4 strokes but I just couldnt get the hang of it and spent a lot of time on the ground until I switched back to 2 strokes.

I think there is something to all this, I can think of three Stewart crashes this season alone where Stewart crashed for no apparent reason. He seems to be just riding along and for no reason he gets squirrely and crashes....we have never seen him do this before have we? Clearly something wrong this year, my guess is he and the bike are just not compatible and he cant get his head right on the bike.

He is riding over his head just to get near the top.  He hasn't faced this kind of competition in a while and it shows with some desperation riding sometimes.  Good starts help him out a lot.  When he starts somewhere below the top 3rd is when it seems things really go south for him.

Think JGR is mad? I mean, they probably paid JS7 twice what they did DM18 and look at who's in 2nd place points wise.

Ryan Dungey.

That might make it even worse.
