Anybody know why my brand new 2012 KTM300XC has a 13T countershaft sprocket on it when according to the manual its supposed to be 14T ???

Anybody else have this ??

13/50 configuration seems more appropriate for track riding not woods ??

Here is the proof I don't have bad math skills :-)  ... and yes this is what came stock

Does everybody else have a 13T in their '12 300xc's ????????    Maybe if a few people can check theirs to see if mine is a "one off" or common to many 2012 models?

Maybe the manual is assuming U.S. spec and yours is Canadian spec.....wonder if all XC's in Canada come with the 13?

Interesting... the Canadian KTM website says 14 for the XC and 13 for the XCW.

I get my bikes in the crate here in B.C. and the last two have been labeled US models on the box. There isn't a Canadian model vs a US model or at least not anymore. My 2011 XC came with a 13 tooth on the front.

So I guess it unanimous .. its a MISPRINT in the manual

Ironically, the MXA review in the 2012 Feb Issue ALSO stated the bike had a 14T front sprocket stock (14/50 gearing) and that it was too tall for track riding.  Makes you wonder what they were testing.  Did they not look down and verify before their "usual" add one tooth out back rant :-) ??

Thanks all for clearing this up

They forgot to update the book for 11/12 The 08-10 250-300xc had 14t. The new 6 speed uses a 13T.

My 2012 300 XC came with a 14 tooth front sprocket.  I know that my 2010 also had a 14 stock, but in 2011 the 300 XC came with a 13 tooth front.  The 2012 300 XC-W comes with a 13 tooth.

I don't know why some of the 2012 300 XC bikes came with a 13?????!!!! I think it is a mistake.

I am in Canada by the way and bought my bike here.

I can't imagine riding mine  with a 13 tooth... my 2012 300 felt low geared with the 14/50 stock gearing.  I switched to 14/48, but might consider 14/49 for the super tight stuff.

This beats me why they use a 13 tooth sprocket , wouldnt you design the bike around a 14 tooth so people can have more choices when they want to play with the bike to get it the way you want it...........
