It's been a long road in my attempt to recover. I had a serious mishap on my DRZ a couple of years ago and I hope to ride again this year. I rode a few times last year for the first time (pretty spooky), but only on the street. I don't think I'll ever be able to ride off road again, but that's another story.

I not certain, but I believe I have about 13,000 miles on the clock. I destroyed the original dash and it's replacement only had about 500 miles IIRC.

She's a 2006 "S" and of course, the faster blue model.

I've done most all of the mod's to the flying pig as far as maintenance and service but it's been over four years since I've done anything with the exception of changing the oil and filter and oiled the air filter last year before riding about a 1000 miles off and on.

On two occasions last year when it was over 90 degrees outside, I experienced for the first time the temp light on the IP flickered for a bit. Once, it stayed on for about five minutes, glowed bright, then went off. This was while riding 40 to 60 mph on back roads. I don't recall if the fan came on (foolish mistake) but the fan rarely came on ever...once in a blue moon, and never on the open road. I did pop the cap and the rad was full and I did not see any liquid in the overflow. No gas smell in the earl.

I thought I would change my anti freeze first as it's been about 5 years since I've done that.

Is there a way to check my waterpump is working the way it should while I'm in there?

I'm also going to check my valves and change the oil and filter.

LOL, original battery...for now.

Should I adjust my MCCT?

Should I check my compression? IIRC, there is an automatic compression release that won't allow me to just screw in my compression gauge and check?

Any other thoughts?

Well, thanx for all the input!

I seem to recall once upon a time I used to get many good responses to my inquiries...

Not to be deterred.

Valves? Check. No change. Within spec.

Thermostat? Check. Within spec. Put it in a pot of water on the stove with a 300 degree thermometer.

Right side rad temp sensor? Check. Within spec. Put it in a pot of earl on the stove with a 300 degree thermometer.

Left side rad temp sensor? Check. Within spec. Put it in a pot of earl on the stove with a 300 degree thermometer.

Change anti freeze? Check.

Change oil and filter? Check.

Lube chain? Check.

Sprockets? Check.

Air pressure in the 17" Motard Set-Up? 25 psi. according to Eddie, thank you Sir.

Change plug for the first time ever? Check.

I was wrong on the number of miles on the clock...Slightly less than 10,000 mile on her and she is a 2005 not 06.

She's aka "Christine"...always blue, soon to be black and white.

I'll keep an eye on the temp this season...if something heats up, I guess I'll replace the water pump.

Sounds like you have it all under control.  Water pumps pretty much work or they don't.  Sometimes leak but that is a different problem.  Should be good to go.

Thank you to all!

It's nice to be back!

I'm in Waterford Michigan. Last year I rode in two 100 mile charity events (it was tuff). One was with ABC Harley for Veterans and the other was for the Ronald McDonald houses in Michigan. Both are annual events out of Waterford. Beautiful country paved street rides and I was the only dual sport/motard out of 75+ Harleys. I certainly got a lot of looks...the RM ride was single out with a map, but the ABC was riding in a pack where they closed intersections and we rode up the Veterans Great Lakes National Cemetery and then back to ABC.

If any are interested in joining me for this year, LMK and I'll keep you posted when/where as the date gets closer.
