Has anyone tried one of these out? Looks like a pretty good price for a whole new piston, rings, clips, jug, & gaskets. I have been looking at ways to get a little more grunt. I was thinking that this might be the ticket!

That looks expensive. I bought mine from lukesracing.com http://lukesracing.c..._Code=BBYZ290FM
I bought it for $550 shipped with the wiseco piston. Luke was great to deal with couldn't say enough good things about him.
The yz250f kit fits the wr.
My bike hauls now! Even with my 260 pound frame.

Do you know if they offer a 13.5:1 piston with their 270 kit? Ha ha I am calling them tomorrow to see so no worries if you dont get back to me.

I was looking at those a little while ago. They aren't very common, especially in the US. In fact the only reason I heard about them was on a trials site where they were selling them for the Yamaha 250F powered trials bikes.
I went with a 290 because I think it was Jesse Williams who I was talking to that said even 290 was pushing it as far as cooling and the water jacket goes. I don't know how true that is, but I figured enough guys were running 290s that they would have OK reliability, plus they would be easier to get parts for in the future. I ended up with an Athena kit from Luke's, I don't think he sells the other $500 kit anymore... I got it back together and rode it the other day and man it's amazing! You'll love a 290!

Huh, when I got mine in November I was told they didn't have any and they weren't going to get more... Maybe it's just for the earlier years? (this was on an '04)
