this summer i plan to drive across the southeast and hit as many riding spots as i can. i haven't planned it out yet but i know some of the places i want to go. i live in south carolina and so far i plan to go to caw, parsons mountain, e-town, durhamtown, and highland park. what kind of planning is required for a trip like this. and how much will it cost, assuming i can find camping areas for the hauler that i'll sleep in and avoid hotels if posible.

You should also check out "moto mountain" outside of talking rock, ga. Supposed to be like 50-75 miles of trails. They have a website with trail videos if you wanna take a look. Im trying to get a trip together with a buddy to go this summer or next. (He's gotta get a bike)
But, to answer your original question, i think you can do it pretty reasonably, especially if you carried coolers and cooked your own meals onsite. Probably your highest expenses will be gas and park fees.
Be like nike, and  JUST DO IT!

Or, if you wanted to really save gas money, just go to Hatfield/Mccoy in kentucky. They have a website too, and you could camp there the whole time and ride different trails everyday. That place is HUGE!

I think the  Hatfield/Mccoy trails you speak of are in West Virginia.
I have ridden: Rock House, Buffalo Mtn, Indian Ridge
More of us Mortorcycle guys need to ride there!!!
Too many quads and side by sides!
Get your motorcycle friends to ride there!
They could have more single track. Some of the single track is hardly ridden and grown over.
It is a great place to ride. I will go back this year.

there are 4 or so systems within 30min-1hr of the border, the hatfields were from WVA the mccoys from Kentucky. My wife and I have ridden all of their trail systems and go there twice a year.  Its $50 for a year pass and you can ride any of the 7 trail systems.  I would suggest, for a week trip, to go to two systems.  Rockhouse and Bear Wallow are 30-45 min from each other.  Or Indian Ridge and Pinnacle are pretty close to each other.

If you go to Rockhouse, i highly endorse Twin Hollows camp ground.  Its atop a HUGE reclaimed strip mine mountain, you can see for miles every way and there is a trail right from it to the trail system.  Most places have a cabin rental for 2-6 people for $100 or so, camping $35-40 a night if you want to tent.  Awesome place!

Highland Park is freaking awesome. Park your hauler for $5.00 a night and you can ride for $20.00 a day through the week (and avoid some of the crowd). Also, check out The Ridge http://www.ridgeriding.com/ But they are only open on weekends. They have affordable camping as well.
