KOSO North America makes a very nice voltmeter and thermometer small and bright

..but can it be seen in direct sunlight? It's only water resistant though.

I'm sure it can been seen in direct sun light  thought i cant find any info on how water resistant they are. i'd take it there as about  as water proof as the stock trip computer dont drench it but i dont think water for the hose would bother it but do some poking around to make sure. if you find any thing let me know because i'm thinking about getting one

I saw a Harley with the cassetted deck above the handle bars.  The rider installed an after market single din radio/gps/dvd player with a pop out 7 inch screen.  He says he's actually watched movies on it.  So in flight movies are a possibility.

I emailed  KOSO and they said they haven't recieved any complaints on visibility issues and admited that it is water resistant.

One thing that would concern me is if the display is LED then it's doubtful that it can be seen in very much light. It's advertised as LCD, but  looks more like LED (light emiting diode) and not Liquid Crystal Display.

Here's mine after the voltmeter was installed on the weekend.

Cost me $6 from Ebay, waterproofed it with brush-on sillicon and a couple of coats of clear auto enamel.

email them on it i'm sure they'll put your mind at ease about the details i'm kinda curious too if its lcd or led. you've making some very valid point as far as water resistance and visibility during the day.

I actually hate digital displays from watches and clock to spedos and tacs.

Does anyone know if there is an aftermarket pod for the DRZ that's more like the old analog one that was on the DR350?

Or if perhaps an actual DR350 pod can be ported to a DRZ?

would be kind of nice to have a tachometer that is useful in comparison to the vapor's tach.

That's a nice setup. Where'd you get the voltmeter?

I found the Voltmeter on Ebay, it's to plug in a cigarette lighter (car), I cut off the extra and sealed it, extended the + - wires. about $8.

Welded a piece of metal to the stock bracket and cut out a hole for the idiot lights. Switch for the heated grips and left room for additions down the road (voltmeter, garage door opener, etc). At the time I only had white paint on hand but I plan to paint it black either this weekend or when the motivation hits me.

I'm considering gett a Trail Tech Vapor.
But I got an "e" model with RM forks. Problem is a have a fat set of bars, which use a Riser clamp that bolt onto the triple clamps.

Looking at most mounting options, ie the top mount protector, this would make it way to high. I guess I could sandwhich it between the the triple clamp and riser bars, but the bolt spacing is around 80mm's...
Whats the spacing needed for this..?
