I have a 2000 Yamaha TTR 225 which was running fine and just died. Checked the spark and it would spark 1 time. Took it to a shop and he said it was the CDI. Changed it and the same thing. Changed the stator, pulser, coil, starter soilnoid, starter relay and I am running out of parts to change and it still will only spark 1 to 2 times. HELP
2000 TTR 225 will not fire. It's driving me freakin nuts, need help

You really need a shop manual / wiring diagram to troubleshoot this. If your bike is like my TTR230 or WR250, it could be any of a number of switches that are bad, in addition to any wiring problems (shorts) that could cause the same thing. Check the main on/off switch, the kill switch, the clutch switch and the transmission position switch. Typically, these switches open to allow starting and closed to kill the engine. I say "typically" because I can't say for sure without the wiring diagram. Your bike may not have all these switches on it. A DVM and the manual will go a long way toward figuring this out. Or, you can disconnect one switch at a time to isolate it.
Don't throw parts at it. Try to isolate the problem.

Have u checked to see if you have power to the coil, and if the coil is witching on and off (hook test light up to negative on coil to ground, it should flash) if you have power to the coil and it is switching the measure the primary and secondary windings on your coil with ohm meter...if there is no power or it's not switching then you need to move on to trying to pin point why..I.e. bad switch, short, or wiring

my shop guy 1st spend the time with jumpers to figure out WHAT component went wrong before just replacing things, which is expensive!
he spent $30 in time to replace a $10 relay!
like the other guy said you can get a wiring diagram and you need to follow each one of the paths to make sure they work
it can be as simple as a broken wire at a connector
one thing you can do try is to do this
also if there is no spark and the other parts are new, i would lean toward a bad safety switch -
there are the following switches
starter kill switch - take it apart clean it and jump it while apart
clutch kill switch - on the clutch side there is a small button that goes in and out
nuetral kill switch - sadly this is inside the bike but you can jump it
by jumping i mean bypassing the function of the switch
My issue was the safety relay it was only getting low voltage and when jumped the bike fired up
keep the posts coming about what u did
