TT500D valve springs use 2-springs (inner and outer)  the stock free length:

Outer  44.6mm  and Inner  45.3mm

My manual says measure and replace if the length is 2mm  or more less than the stock.

If memory serves me Pro-Fab was an accessory manufacturer in California who were famous for alloy swing arm conversions that were
popular on XT/TT 500's and used on the famous HH500 series motocross bikes.  If your bike has an alloy swing-arm it is probably PF too.

I believe they made a kit to do a complete modification of the XT/TT.

That's a negative on the swinger, I think. It doesn't look like a banana shape and it's painted black with the frame. Probably stock.

I went out and took my forks off, rims etc.. I saw my triples said "ProFab" on them. I thought, well these triples look cool, would look even cooler flat black or flat white. I looked around for ProFab parts and I guess that company isn't around. I asked on a post on another forum and was informed they are hard to find. I want to sell these triples, I have absolutely no need for rare hard to find VMX triple trees. This bike is going to be driven like a grandpa owns it as long as it's under my care and ridden only around town and mild free way use. So, if you read this and want these triples, they will be on Ebay pretty soon.

They may have a different offset on them too. Do you have the stock ones also? They will give you a different ride.

My riding today was pretty good, but the video I took wasn't because I was about a second away from my arms cramping down on the throttle, so I took it easy for the first half of the day. No helmet cam because I forgot that mount at home, but I do have a handlebar angle. I'll post it in a bit.

How did the bike ride? Notice any problems? What is offset, people keep saying that and I googled but couldn't find a definitive answer. I don't have stock triples, no. But possibly 300 bucks (if I get lucky) would pay for a decent amount of engine upgrades and tools  Even 200 would be nice. Triples can be purchased later, the suspension is gonna be up for work on my list of priorities around June I think.

Right now,
1. Rebuild top end
2. carburetor
3. frame chop
4. suspension

If the pace is like this until June I won't get to the suspension until like September

But, I am getting smarter about money so I am grateful for the motivation from this project. I'm gonna recycle every bottle and can from here on out. Save every penny and coin in my giant bottle. Sell my junk and whatever else I have to do!

I had a huge problem earlier. I am probably 2x faster than I was when I left off, mainly due to motivation, and knowing that my bike can perform better than I can. The problem was that my front end bottomed painfully hard on every jump on the track, so I couldn't go fast. even though I wanted to so bad.

I believe the offset either changes the angle of the forks, but I don't know for sure. Sell those clamps if you need the money for other parts, as those will go for quite a bit more than the stock ones.

That kind of sucks your front end was bottoming out. It's no fun when your bike has an issue, I mean it's always fun to ride but for some reason bike issues like that take away from what remaining fun you CAN have haha. But at least you got out on it and it's much faster. It'll be cool to see the video.

I have a book that gives a general overview of front suspension, maybe it covers offset.

Offset is more of a chassis related feature, I may have it in the book I have.

This is the link to the video. The bike sounds really weird because it is mounted on the bike. This camera has a different lens than normal in it, so it makes the jumps look miniscule. remember that the front end bottoms hard on all the jumps.

I didn't get the link. The blue link took me to the TT camera shop.

Offset and fork angle between them set the amount of trail your front wheel has,  how far the contact patch sits rearward of a line through the head stock steerer tube. Think shopping trolly. Once you push the trolley the wheels fall into line, that's the result of trail. Profab made bits and frames. I think the PROTEC Ron leichen bike may have been built on the profab frame. They were one of a number of custom builders pulling great motors out of the indifferent frames that at the time were coming out of japan. By  83 the japs were making good handling monshocks and the frame shops tended more towards mile and half mile frames for dirt ovals. That was a niche market.

The trolly knitted it together! Thank you Cloggy.

If nobody buys them, I don't mind keeping them. I was looking for cool triples and I really like the way these triples look. Also, they probably perform better than the stock triples so that's cool too.

Thanks for letting us ride on the front of your bike! That was cool, looks like so much fun. I'm for sure going back to dirt one of these days. Get my son riding  a little 50cc with training wheels. I couldn't tell your forks were diving though. Your bike sounded very crisp and mean on some parts haha, that was cool. You rebuilt the engine you said?

The video didn't show the forks dive, but they were even deep in the stroke under braking. And I haven't rebuilt it yet, it just needed this special spacer for the plug since it is all done up by PR2. They really made the bike scream up on top. I'll be doing a top end on Wednesday. I was just waiting for a wrist pin bearing.

Those jumps look like fun. I used to jump my little KX125 like 6 feet, so fun. One time I saw a little kid on a 50cc easily clearing 6 feet and it was shocking to me at the time. I do miss the dirt lol. I think I want a dirt bike too haha.

They are pretty fun jumps. The video makes them look so tiny though. The jump around the big sweeper corner is about 60 feet long and there was a little kid on a 50cc jumping it. He looked only 4 or 5 years old.
