Anyone else think that Go Pro's are just too expensive for those that just want to just film casually and not seriously? i found this sweet product that turns your iphone into a nice little pov cam, check out the video no need that shell out the £££'s for the latest Go Pro's anymore!

I think the day you crash and trash your iphone, is the day you realize a gopro is cheap.

And how much does an iphone cost in comparison?

Looks quite good, but I know me being me, I would be fearing for my iPhones life :bonk:  and wouldn't have it near a track. Looks real good though!

How can you claim a go-pro to be too expensive if you spent money on one of the most over-priced phones out there ?

I would much rather put money on a gopro than an iphone, And the gopro has a much better picture than the iphone ever will

I think the idea is that you already have an iPhone so the only added cost is the mounting system. Cheap way to do it, but I wouldnt trust that case with my iPhone while riding and the picture is fuzzy. I assume that is a promo video so that is probably about the best quality possible while riding and your personal results would most likely be worse. If you really want a helmet cam just shell out the few hundred and get the gopro or contour or similar.

A group buy I participated in was $235 shipped for the GoPro HD Hero2 with the motorsports package. Now that the new one is out, check around and you'll see the old ones go for possibly <$175. IMO that's a damn good deal. Plus it is more versatile and rugged (waterproof) than an Iphone. My Droidx would fall apart if I asked it to do anything crazy

I don't want to hijack this thread, but is there some reason the contour model is not more popular?  It just seems like a better design for motorcycles than the GoPro, as it tucks in much better.

I have a contour roam and the picture quality doesn't seem as good as gopro. For the price I got it for though, i'm not complaining.

Absolutely no way would I use my Iphone for MX recording! I just picked up the GoPro 1080 for $160 on ebay, brand new! My Iphone cost $200 after a new contract. I think to pay for another Iphone (say without insurance) is well over $400? By all means, it takes great pictures and videos, but I opt not to do that.

I remember growing up my grandparents bought a massive shoulder video recorder. That thing was huge! hahaha
I believe it was quite expensive also back in the early 80's.

let's see...iphone costs twice as much as a gopro. i don't know if the framerate is adjustable but that was shot in PAL which is fine but i prefer NTSC and you were dropping about 1 in 30 frames.

hardly seems like a good idea to me but if you dig it then have fun. :bonk:
