Hi I'm in the market for a 690 enduro and wanted to know about any faults with it. I just want to get a feel for what can go wrong with it in the future if I do decide to buy one. I heard that some of them have stalling issues so anything like that.

Sweet so it's perfect? Absolutely nothing can go wrong?

There are at least 3 people that I know of that have ridden the 690s around the world.

They have had past problems with the fuel pumps on the 08s and 09s...  Have not heard of many people having fuel pump problems with the later models.  My 2012 is on order hopefully taking delivery in the next week or so...

The mandatory (IMHO) things you need to fix on the bike right away is ditching the factory exhaust. There have been numerous examples of the stock muffler melting the fuel tank, and catching luggage on fire...

Ditching the factory PAPER air filter,  and then getting the ECU reflashed to match the new air flow from the exhaust and intake mods, which your dealer can do for you.

The third thing is the upper tank bolts which have been know to fail (and may lead to the melting of the gas tank with the stock muffler).

After that they seem to be pretty reliable...

Good luck...

I am biased since I have one but it's a great bike.  Just a few things:
-I am 5' 9" tall and 170 lb and the bike is at my limit for being able to touch two toes on the ground.
-The stock muffler has a cat in it; it's very heavy and gets really hot.  I put an FMF Q4 on mine after the first one hour of riding and it's great with the stock ECU tune.  Nice bark but not annoying.
-The plastic skidplate is a bit flimsy for rocky terrain but KTM sells a nice aluminium one.
-Great power and decent fuel range with a stock tank.

Agree whole heartedly!

I'm 6'3" and it's a tall bike but OK for me....
Replaced the stock pegs with Fastaway pegs...
Added the Safari tank, necessary in the Western US....
Replaced the shoulder tank bolts with hardened bolts and delrin spacers....
Ride, ride, maintain, ride, ride.....
