Never paid for one of these damns things, or the BS "Notice" they'd leave on my windshield. Burn in hell adventure pass!

Now if we all start ignoring those closed signs, maybe they'll go away too!! :bonk:

They left a $5 ticket on my windshield at rowher a few months ago,  i payed that,  then went and bought a $30 dollar adventure pass from the 7-11,  used it twice, sold my dirtbike  then got a DS and never used it again,   what a waste of hard earned money that was....

If you go to Gorman early enough (before 8:30 or so)  there is no one at the gate,  so you get in for free,  save the $5 bucks there as well.

At Gorman, if they don't get you on the way in, better leave late or they'll get you on the out.  Glad to hear the ADV pass is going away, was a pretty shady deal.

Woohoooo!!! :bonk:

Hey rangers, don't let the door hit you in the arse on your way out.  Wonder how they are going to pay all the extra staff they hired to enforce the lameo law.

I usually stage at Gold Hill trailhead so I always told the ranger at the gate I was parking in the NF and they would wave me through.

And when they say they are going to lock the gates to Rowher 3 days a week because they don't have the money to staff it properly 7 days a week, which days will you vote for?

Unlock the gates 7 days a week and they can go do whatever else they do.

And if they are not there on a day that some quad rider splits his head open and therefore help is not instant and the poor quad riders family sues because it is after all, the Forest Service's fault, etc, etc.

that would be nice! less people on the trails!! I vote for fri-sun...

there are many ways into rowher...

but seriously....why does it need to be staffed? It wasn't 20-30yrs ago...and I always had a great time there then.

back to the adventure pass...where does that $5 actually go? more fences? some a-holes pocket? Used to be free to go into the mountains around here when I was a kid, now you have to pay $5 and see fences and gates everywhere....F THAT!!! Gorman and everywhere else was the same way years back...the "good ole days" !!! the adventure pass can kiss my Arse too!!

So true......we used to ride from Hughes Lake road all the way to Acton and farther and there wasn't anyone around.  Also used to ride from Texas Canyon and loop all the way to Little Rock and come back down through Angeles Crest to Placerita/Sand Canyon by way of a road we called 52 rivers.  We have become a problem to those that don't like what we do and have "watchdogs" on the look out for us.......guess that makes us dogs if they are watching out for us.......   I've hunted LPNF and ANF.......how come they are way understaffed with fish and game yet there's no problem letting all those poachers out there?

Don't really care one way or another on the Adv Pass anymore.  Only bought one years ago when I was hunting and then heard that if you were up there for religious reasons they couldn't sight you........I was going to the Holy Temple of Creatures Needing to be Eaten or climbing the Stairway to Heaven Shrine trying to get closer to my maker.

Is this for real??

I really hope that will not happen,  as going out there during a weekday for a quick ride is a real joy,    only time ive seen the ranger out there,  hes usually chilling in his truck in stagine area #1,  ive never actually seen them on trails or the fire roads.

Man you are REEEEACHING !   The introduction of the adventure pass was to GET MORE MONEY so they could continue to hire staff and creep the size of the government job force.  It never had anything to do with eliminating lawsuits and has done NOTHING to enhance our public lands unless you dig those new $60,000 solar operated pit toilets !

Places like Rowher have all the money they need from the green sticker fund already to help close trails.

I can't believe anyone could defend charging another fee to use public land we already pay for with taxes.

On a side note: they are losing over $40 million dollars PER YEAR just in Big Bear/Arrowhead/Baldy due to expiring fuel related earmarks next year.  Thats far more than the Adventure Pass losses.  You want to argue we need more earmarks to pad their growing budgets as well ?  How will this affect OHV in this area ?  They'll get more green sticker grants so the State of Cal will pay Obama to let us ride on public forest lands.  What a joke !

Nope, not defending it at all.  I agree we should not have this fee as we have already paid for it via gas tax, green sticker, etc.  I'm just saying that is the excuse the Forest Service will use.

I was also poking at the people that blame every one else and not themselves for their own actions.  I went to jury selection for a case once.  The girl who was suing had stepped between her drunk brother and his drunk friend who were fighting.  They tossed her through a plate glass window on the second floor and she went to the ground and broke her back, paraplegic now. So she was suing the building owner and building manager because the window didn't have a bar across the window half way up which is the code now but not when the building was constructed and it was not required to be retrofitted.  She didn't sue the two clowns that tossed her out the window.  It wasn't her fault for stepping in there or their fault for tossing her.  I wanted on that case so bad, but being an engineer, I got tossed even before a guy who was an apartment building manager.

No way in hell a lawyer wants to try to bluff and bullshit someone actually capable of critical thought. Now if you had been a LAUSD employee, you'd be in like flynn!

I usually tell how we couldn't reach a verdict in a prior case I was on because "10 people couldn't understand the judges instructions as to what constitutes intent".  It was a case of assault with a deadly weapon.  That statement always gets me tossed.  For this case, I didn't bring that up because I wanted in on this jury.  Still got tossed, and I think it was the first time I was the first one tossed when the lawyers got their turn to "thank and excuse".

I digress, back to talking about dirt bikes and riding!

What!, Really that's where your going with this. OK, how about riding responsibly and not alone. The government isn't here to take care of us. Your starting to sound like Obama! Try riding in Baja. They don't have 911 you need to plan for the worst, always be prepared and make it out alive. Keep Ricky Ranger out of our lives, that's my .02 cents.

My statement was made with greatest sarcasm.  I certainly don't feel this way.  Just pointing out that this would be the excuse given by others to justify having the Adventure Pass money so we could all feel warm and snuggly in our government's bosum!
