So I have a choice to make and need help.
Choice #1:
Rekluse  Z-start pro.

Choice #2:
Sending my head and cam to Jesse Williams for the full treatment

I ride trails and single track. Can't use the Rekluse exp because of the big bore.
04 WR250F

Both are about the same price give or take. I know a lot of people have the Rekluse and not so many with the Motorwerx package. But if by chance anybody that has done both what would you rather have?

Why won't the EXP work on a big bore....I know their site says not to do this...is it a warranty thing with Rekluse.

I realize there is extra torque with the BB but for just trail riding shouldn't it hold up?
I don't see how it would make a huge difference in the longevity of the product or how it works... :bonk:

anyone used it with a BB?

Well my personal preference is for you to do the engine work. I'm REALLY curious about the porting and dimpled valves. Tried the Rekluse - not for me personally. One thing I want to know about the Rekluse is the BB application. I might have liked it better if I had know I had to specify I had a 290 kit. I ordered mine from my local dealer and this was the first EXP they had ordered so they didn't really know either. I went to their site and re-read all the FAQ's and the information about the EXP but never saw anything mentioning a specific BB setup - could have missed it maybe. I guess I was a case of not knowing everything I needed to but thinking I did :bonk: . I would like to know where on their site it talks about the BB stuff just for future reference.  Sorry for the highjack. Clay

This is where I saw it. Big red letters saying "Not for big bore or snow bike applications"

Thanks, but I would think they would have it in the FAQ's or when you click on "more info" under the products tab. Another question - if they can make the EXP work in a 450 why do they not want you to use it in a 250 with a BB kit? The 450 clearly makes more torque and is heavier so it should be harder on anything. Guess this is one of those things that make me go hhhmmmm....Thanks again for the link. Snow bike - that's funny right there. Clay

Did you ever find anything out about the "Big Bore + Rekluse = Disaster" theory?

I'm looking at an Rekluse EXP 2.0 insert for my 290 set up but cannot seem to figure out why they're opposed to the combination.

I emailed them recently about this.... they replied:

No we don’t recommend EXP for big bore kits, EXP is not designed to handle the increased torque.  However, Z-start pro or Core EXP is up to the task.  Each of those will require different settings so let whomever you order it from know to get the necessary parts.

pretty vague response IMO....the 290 definately has more torque but does that make it harder on the clutch?? I don't know..
