I'm sure this has been threaded to death but here I am anyways. After seeing serveral sites charging 70 bucks for this kit I decided to make my own. The research took a few days to track down what coil to use and what connector what not. I ended ordering 2 connectors and lone and behold only one worked. The other was supposed to be the updated version but yeah no dice. Either way I'm happy that one of the connectors (the original style) works fine. Here are a few pics of what I've done so far. Once I install it and wire it I'll share a few more pics.

This morning I finshed up with the COP conversion and it runs great. I had to use some dielectic grease in order to get it in the spark plug tunnel in the cyliner head. I do have a question though. I have one of those tach / hourmeters that has the trigger wire wrapped around the spark plug wire to get its signal. Well where do i put that wire now? It's wrapped around the positive lead that goes to the coil, but no dice. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Here is a pic of the COP installed. I removed the AMR coil after I took the picture. I'm liking this mod. It starts up easier and I can push in the choke much earlier. I've ridden it at all RPMs and so far it's been worth it.

The last thing I need to do is wrap the tach trigger wire from my Tiny Tach around the top of the COP body. I wrapped it around the positive wire going to the COP with no results. I researched and found that Yamaha owners with a COP from the factory wire their Trail Tech computers that way. Anyways those who are curious as to the polarity of the COP.. (mine is a late 90s GSXR) here is a schematic I found online.

Yes, the MOD has been around for a few years now.

Nice job.

Perhaps  list out the source and cost and shipping for each item;
Wire, gauge, type (marine grade, Auto grade, plastic coated stuff).
Plug source, brand, O-ring fit like OEM or??
Coil source, model, application, part number, cost, shipping.
Tools you used.
Methods used, crimp, soldier, heat shrink tube with brand and type, or tape, or liquid tape, etc.

I sourced the COP on Ebay for about 15 dollars with a few dollars shipping. The COP connector I sourced off of this website http://www.corsa-tec...category_id=55Part number C2AS. The wiring I had on hand from my Megasquirt kit I got from diyautotune.com. I crimped the wires using standard automotive wire terminals. The COP is from a 99 GSXR 750. It fits really well. I slid down the seal to better fit the spark plug tunnel. A COP about 1/2 shorter would be ideal, but this one works fine.

I decided to wrap the Tiny Tach wire around the body of the COP with success. While apart I decided to use heat shrink tubing on the connectors. Just a little added insurance. I also used a small piece of wire loom where the positive trigger wire hooks to the wire from the COP harness to guard it from potentially grounding out on the frame. All in all a very worthwhile MOD.
