I might be interested in a steering stablizer 2003 yz450f. Just wondering what aftermarket triple clamp and bars I should buy before purchasing the damper. Also whats a riding computer?

theres a stabilizer out there by the name "RTT" which has the stabilizer built in to the triple clamps (two in one). heard the scotts is better, but thats an option. Depending on what youre doin, Fasst Co. Flexx bars are VERY cool. a computer is usually used by enduro riders to help them with mileage, time, speed, etc..

There are Enduro computers (I think "Checkmate"  is one of the most popular models) that you program your course info into, mileage, speed, and reset into and the computer monitors your actual speed and tells you if you need to go faster or slow down to arrive at the next check on time.
Bike computers display speed, mileage, hrs, trip miles/time, avg speed, rpm's, coolant temp etc. Not all of them have all those features mind you. Trail Tech is the most popular brand for this type. They even have one now that includes GPS.

And as for replacing the tripple, I don't think that is necessary. The triple will cost $500 or more and all you really need is the bar mounts. You have to decide if you want a top or sub mount. the sub will raise your bar height.

or there is also the bottom mount...mounts at the lower end of the steering stem near the front fender. It would be more difficult to adjust while riding in that location

I have High CR computer profiled PRO Taper Bars that are gold in colour on the bike

Theres also an adapter called TAG metals that has risen the bars an ince higher.

Will the scotts damper work for this?

You 2003 YZ triple clamp is a solid triple clamp that has non removable barmounts.  If you want to run the damper with the over size bars we will have to remove the the universal Tag adapters as they change the bar mount bolt hole spacing and we have nothing that will work with the new spacing.  A damper and mount kit to go on the stock triple clamp and 7/8 bars is $449.95. A damper and a new triple clamp is $599.00 so you  can run the bars you have but they will be a little lower than what you currently have do to losing the adapters. We also have SUB mount triple clamp kit available which will put the damper under the bars that will raise the bars up in order to regain that height you lost by loosing the adapters. We use USPS shipping to Canada to avoid the duty fee's that UPS charges.
Thanks-
Eric

I actually called you guys about the 599 triple clamp/stablizer. Im not sure if it would be better to have it lower slightly or to so what you said and try to keep it the same.

SUB mount or not? wich do you think would be better? Looks like the Sub mount would protect the stablizer knobs also the pin that connects the stabilizer to the frame is shorter so it wouldnt flex.

Might go with the Sub mount.

If you are a taller rider then the SUB mount is a great way to bring up the height of the bars. For a smaller rider like me at 5'9 then I need to run lower handlebars to compensate for the added height.  The other benefit is you can run a bar pad when the damper is under the bars.
Thanks-
Eric
ps. Saying all that my current bike does have the damper above the bars-

AT six feet tall you just need to make sure that you dont get bars that are to tall and end up having ape hangers for handlebars.
