Hey guys, on the 04 RM125, the bottom part of the bar clamp is cast in with the top part of the triple clamp. First of all, does the 05-07 have the bottom bar clamp cast, or is it removable from the top triple clamp? And also, would a set of top and bottom triple clamps from and 06 RM125 work with my 04 RM125?
Thanks

There are 3 main parts that make up the triple clamps. Bottom clamp, top clamp and the stem. The stem is pressed into the bottom clamp, and that is the steel part that the bearings slide onto. When the triples come off the bike, the bottom stem slides out of the frame as one part. Yes, 04-07 enter change with each other. They are not cast as a set, you can swap bottoms and top clamps from bike to bike or aftermarket top clamp with stock bottom clamp as long as the degree of angle for the aftermarket part is the same design as stock.

thanks for the reply. I understand that the top and bottom triple clamps are not cast together, but i was reffering to the bar clamp which is cast into the top triple clamp on my bike. So i could not buy different sized bar clamps for oversized bars.

To use the 1-1/8 fat bars, you will need to replace the top clamp or use a set of 7/8" to 1-1/8" adapters. The adapters will raise the bars up about an 1" and there is nothing you can do about it if you go with th adapters. You can also use the top clamp off a RM250, then get the 1-1/8" bar clamps. Or just stick with the 7/8" bars, lot of riders going back to those bars.

Stupid question: Why are the fat bars popular? Do they run aluminum but need a bigger bar for strength?

I'm pretty sure the newer triple clamps will work.
If you are interested, I have an aftermarket top clamp brand new I would sell. Has removable bar clamps.

Everyone has different reasons for running them. But FWIW "yes" they are a little bit stronger than 7/8" bars, and for me, I also like the extra room that they provide (not that I really need it) and it seems to give the bar clamp area a less cluttered look. And because the bar pad is smaller there's more room for accessories like GPS's. But the primary reason is that they really are stronger.
