if the cops are more strict now for us...I would expect them to be more strict with the street bikes(there's so many more of them). Make sure ya bring that up...if they're gonna be a bizatch about this, I think we have the right to expect it to be uniform.

I hear ya Slackin' but when it is you(or me) and the A'hole LEO on a dirt road -you or I won't win the battle but may have to visit the local kangeroo court to try winning the war.....

Best advise is to look legal and don't voluntarily stop....unless the blue lights are flashin...

It sounds like some shops are shying away from doing inspection for liability reasons, which is understandable.  The liability is only when they pass something that is not entirely legal according to the law.  We've been working with the US Forest Service to build a couple bikes for them to meet the standards of the law.  They will be patrolling more so now than ever.  With this bike......not sure if it passed the inspection as it shows in the photo, but if so at a glance there are a couple things that would need to be done to meet the letter of the law.  These are all inspection items as part of the law, but could now be added after the fact.  There needs to be an additional fender extension added to the under fender extension to meet the 1/2 the distance to the center of the wheel when laden.  Add reflectors 2 ambers up front and 3 reds in the rear.  High beam indicator (maybe it's on a dashboard that could not be seen).  A sight test of the rear signals at 500ft with a plate on (the signal look like it is directly behind where the plate would be mounted).  As functional as the flush mounts are, they must be unobstructed when you have a plate mounted.  The law enforcement will be pulling people over for signals out of sight.  Our inspection sight test is always done with plate bracket mounted on the bike.

Just want to help, so that people do not have issues when out on the road.  Have fun riding.

Thanks for pointing out the fine points. Knowledge will overcome over zealous LEO scrutiny.

Over zealous scrutiny should be expected in Chelan, Kittitas, Yakima and Skamina County's plus by Federal LEO's that are dual state commissioned like is typical in the Gifford .....

Are you authorized to speak for all LEOs in WA, or just certain agencies?

Of course they are not, but they are accurate in their appraisal of the situation.

I had my xr250s without any signals for a while and never got pulled over or had a problem. it might be different now, but they care more about plate visibility and if your headlight/brakelight works

All depends on the goal of the LEO.

Some are most concerned with public safety and common sense :bonk:

Others are out to punish.

@Coyote - for reflectors, are you guys going with actual plastic reflectors, or patches of the 3M Scotch reflective tape, or something else entirely? Seems like SOLAS reflective tape would be very reflective and easy to apply.

You will like the BD kit.. We have been playing with all the kits on the market and working towards a few of our own..
The BD kit is by far the most complete highest quality kit presently on the market. IMO..
Cost a bit more, but that pays off very fast.. TT discount available from Cyclops.
