mods

Rekluse z start pro $600... or core exp???

Acerbis 3.3g tank $240

radiator guards.. $100

HID headlight retrofit $50

bash gaurd $75

Lights, switches for dual sport $100

shorai lithium battery $100

rewound stator $150

pro moto billet fender rack $150

heated grips $30

sprockets $120

fmf q4? $250

grey wire, ais, airbox, throttlestop, grease linkage.... what else?

what else? I hate loud pipes, so probably stock pipe... unless it really chokes it up?

You got it covered. I think that any of the rekluse clutches will be just fine. Even the rekluse exp is pretty darn good. I have a dyna ring (same design) and its just fine.

I like quiet pipe too. ON my wr450, I put in the PMB insert, which opened it up but still is only about 94db. Better power than the stock pipe and performs much better than I need it to. http://www.promotobillet.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=46_88&products_id=50

Personally, I wouldn't get the shorai until I needed a new battery. Your battery will be healthy and topped up with the stator upgrade. Also, the wr's are so very easy to kick over that you won't really care if for some strange reason the battery goes does.

You are only missing "suspension work" on your list. Other than that, you got it covered.

got the bike friday.

got my plate last night.

this thing rips! 3rd gear throttle wheelies?

16/48 is really tall. Didnt get much of a chance to ride it, time I got the plate on it was dark and stormy.

trailtech stator and reg/rec in. I can heated grips, high beam stock headlight, and the LED 3500lum light all at the same time, voltage good so far :bonk:

I modded the plug on the stock headlight to use the HI/LO on it. tonight I am going to try and fit my HID in there.

the headlight looks like a candle compared to the LED

Yeah suspension is on my list for next year.. this is for now.

lawn mower needs a batt so shorai will go in bike

how does the PMB insert compare to the FMF Q4?

Would I benefit from a yzf header to stock exhaust with a PMB?

Skip the FMF and go with a full yz system and the pmb insert. Excellent IMO. I bought mine on fleabay for like $50 shipped. then the PMB end was about $130.

got the DR650 for longer adventure rides, but wanted to mod the WR450F 2006 for shorter adventure rides and tar sections out to the trails:

- rear carrier rack from sr8dirt on ebay, only $79

- bark busters

- repadded seat wider

- modded standard exhaust

- JD jetting kit

- B&B bashplate

- rekluse clutch with 15/45 gearing

- cush drive hub rear wheel

- bar raisers and moved footpegs lower and back

- 310mm DRZ400SM front disc for better braking on road

- added extra liter of oil capacity

rear wheel with cush drive hub is from a husky te610e.

the rekluse clutch is great for gnarly stuff while keeping high gearing for the road. but the WR seriously needs a sixth gear.

just removed the peashooter from the stock exhaust and trimmed down the internal tube on the end part of the pipe. still nice and quiet but derestricted nicely.

doubled the oil capacity to just over two liters by adding an oil catch can. do oil changes at 1000 to 1200km if not caning the bike.

damn, would love to ride in snow. incredibly hot over this way at the moment and hard to get motivated for a ride...

how are you finding the cush drive? for me, it seems a lot smoother on road, and feels like its a lot harder to break traction but not sure if that's just in my head or not.

i'm loving the rekluse, but they didnt send out all the springs so had to opt for the medium setting. i'm definitely going to go for the low setting (six red springs) when they post them out. i dont tend to rev the bike much so find it slipping a bit when i give it a handful in higher gears at low revs, plus it disengages on downhills sooner than i'd like. but it would probably suit someone who rode hard and high in the rev range...

i couldnt believe how easy it was tackling some very steep rutted hills last weekend, talk about cheating. :bonk:

I dont have the hub yet, cant find any for sale. I might just get a RAD cush hub.

I love the rekluse, definitely a must have. one thing I noticed is that it starts quicker if I kick it vs the e start . is it best to kick it to start most of the time and just e start when I need to or will it be okay to use the button most of the time?

Also.. will I be okay geared up taller and riding trails with the rekluse?

Only you can tell for sure how tall of gearing you can run without slipping the clutch too much. I've been running auto-clutches since 2000 (the very first 426 one ever made!) and have found no more clutch wear than normal use, but your results may vary! For Baja, I ran 15/50(stock is 14/50) to make the bike behave on the pavement sections, and had absolutely no issues with using first in the tight stuff. Heck! I still used 2nd most of the time!!

As for your starting issue, you can do a search on here about the "dead engine spark", as I think it was called. Anyhow, basically your sparkplug doesn't fire on the first rotation of the crank when using the e-start. There is a way to dis-able this and if your jetting, etc.. is good, the bike will fire on the first rotation. I've done it, and it works well. But I don't recommend it to anyone racing in Montana!!! :bonk:

Close, Olo Mt which is next to green mt. I put a Desert IT on this time, little better in the white stuff :bonk:.

The cush hub makes it a bit smoother in the rocky sections, I like it.

So I am ebaying an 09 yzf head pipe, 07 yzf muffler. Sound right?

I believe the silencer from 09 on was alittle smaller than the earlier years. they fit the same just don't hang out as much. I have a full system off an 09yz on my 08 wr. Don't have a good picture, but I can take one.

210079.jpgthanks Dustdogg, Ill go with the Clarke ?.

I found Baja Designs has passenger pegs for $150. they look nice.

they fit nice, They bolt right up. Allen head bolts rust instantly.

The worst part of it by far is the right side peg mount bent horribly under my wifes little feet. We were taking a cruise to the beach so no hammering whoops and she weighs 105 lb.

I contacted BD. They tried to charge me for a new mount. We had to go back and forth a few times why I should not have to pay for it.I had to compramise with paying for shipping. I find that out of character for a company like them. I ended up making my own bracket in the end anyway.
