What kind of headlight is that? I want it.

I have a question off the topic, Ive heard of people blocking the leak jet on these bikes. Why do you do that, what does it do, how do you do it and would I wanna do it to my 250x??

You really should have started a new thread, but to answer your question; when you wack the throttle wide open, to prevent a bog, the engine is given an extra squirt of fuel by the Accelerator Pump. The AP is a diaphram in the carb over a bowl shaped area. In the bottom of that bowl is the leak Jet. The leak Jet let's gas flow back into the carb bowl so less fuel is available to be squirted. The larger the leak jet, the less fuel will be available to the AP. Conversely the smaller the jet, the more fuel will be available. Blocking the leak jet would give you the maximum amount (the size of the AP bowl).

I have heard of guys blocking it, but really all you need to do is go down a couple of sizes from stock and that usually takes care of any bog off idle. Personally I wouldn't do that (block it). Throw too much fuel in and your not only wasteing fuel, but more importantly washing the cylinder walls down with gas, which will strip the oil off it.

They do BTW make adjustable leak Jets that you can bolt onto the carb. But usually once it's set, it's set unless you modify the motor in some way.

Jim.

Jim,
I was talking to the guy that started this thread because in his signature it says "blocked leak", so instead of starting a whole new thread, I wanted to kill 2 birds in one stone since I was already taking to him....
But thank you, you answered my question really well!! I think I'm gonna go ahead get the R&d fuel screw a/ the adjustable leak jet!!
