I have a 610sm, 2006 in a roadrace chassis. I can get kawasaki full synthetic in 10w40 for a great price -- not the viscosity recommended by Husky, but would this be a big deal, or should I get the proper 10w60?

Motul has a 10w60 synthetic that is reasonable. Not sure you need 10w60 but I would at least use a 50 weight.

Changing from whatever the PO had in the bike to Motul 15W-60 let me find neutral with the bike running, no more issues at all.
