That is where we are talking about Husaberg becoming a price point brand, featuring "last years" technology, so to speak. Just as they did with the two stroke line, get a little more life out of the existing parts and justify keeping a price under current KTM models. I think it will prove to be a smart move.
Average Joe / weekend warriors like me would do just fine on last year's technology.   I'm probably more into my suspension, bars and seat than I am the fancy motors.  I think that approach has merit.

Husqvarna's price discounting will only carry it so far. If they want to get on equal footing with KTM then the product has to be as good if not better.
Isn't the Husky product pretty good these days?

...hard to see why Yamaha won't simply update the plastic, go to an 18" wheel
That's what I did to my yz250's.  18" wheel, flywheel weight, engine guards and even the wide ratio tranny.      This stuff, plus a milder ignition or head for offroad  (available through GYTR) would sell more of these bikes.

Why they dont' do it is beyond me.

I dont get it.... i thought the slanted forward motor was "better". Why did they go back to the traditional motor?
Their website doesnt explain it nor does the video. Wondering how the magazine test riders are going to skirt around that topic.

Edit
Ok from the 360 brocher... it states they saved weight on the motor which offsets the advantages of the 70deg slanted motor..... hummmmm what do current Husaberg owners think of that?

Did they say if the ECU is locked like it is on the KTM EXC & XCW, or is it tuneable like the SXF450 ?

The problems created by the 70 degree far outweighed any advantages and lots has been written concerning this on many forums. Many berg owners disagree. All is normal.

I like the addition of the FE250 and I agree with dropping the FE390 down to 350cc, I can understand that as the 350cc bikes sell like hot cakes. Why drop the FE570 (which people freakin' loved especially for dual sporting) for the 501cc? Although a 501cc has been very succesful in the past for Husaberg. Also like the addition of a TE125cc two stroke, they needed that!

I'm trying to reserve judgment as best I can, after all it's not like I or anybody on here has ridden one of the 2013's. Just having a hard time getting over that it is more or less a blue KTM now. Not that it's a bad thing, KTM's are rocket ships but Husaberg have always been "different" even though the two are sister companies. Their just not really "different" anymore.....or are they?

I think you answered your first paragraph questions with the "blue KTM" comment in the 2nd.  Probably a business decision, a boring one, but business just the same.  It's too bad.  Bergs have always been exotic super-bikes since the mid 90's and in the last 10 years(ish) seem to have become exotic super-bikes that people could actually live with and ride on a regular basis.  The dirt bike world just got a little less interesting.

Husaberg might as well close the doors. I see no reason to buy one now, maybe because of color preference? Stupid.

Color option and maybe the below???
Why would they give us the KTM motor used in the XC model and still leave off the one drawback of the Berg over the past 4 years.... The backup kick starter!?

There was talk of them positioning themselves as the lower entry level division of KTM, not sure if that is accurate or not.
Kind of the opposite of them being the R&D division of KTM.

I can't tell if the bike is a bunch or leftovers, or good use of durable / proven parts.  Coming stock with 20mm clamps and 4CS forks and a larger tank sure doesn't make it seem like a reject bike.  It comes with a skid plate and proven PDS as well.  Seems downright practical.  I think they should drop the e-start to reduce weight and cost.

I think the riding public expect an estart bike at this point.. Gasgas are sold out of there estart300 but still have xc300 sans estart..

no kick starter is just stupid id pick the kick over the button if I could only have one, and the ECU should be adjustable seeing that they are offroad only, no dual sports..

They don't really claim the ECU is adjustable or non-adjustable, and that's why I didn't pick up a 500xcw last year. I did lock into a new FE501, but if they would have had open chamber forks I would have passed.

It's going to be my Mazzeppa HS and Millville road course bike.

I'm hoping to go from a slight disadvantage in the ice racing enduros to a slight advantage, Whhoo Hoo!
