If true, this will eventually affect parts availability.  Damn it, I hope it isn't true.  My Buell is now a "classic" that's unsupported by a parts chain, and I don't want my brand new 570 to be an unsupported "classic" as well.

Spoke to an director of KTM in Europe: rumor reconfirmed; he started the discussion himself, as I didn't ask for it.

From someone else I heard that the slanted motors would become available as an option to the orange bikes, but not the blue ones anymore.

It makes sense, as you want to keep things seperated as a manufacturer. But I would call this cannabalism...

Never ever will I turn to the orange brand, even if they give them away for free. I would turn to Ossa or Beta immediately.

Why would you spend all that money on r and d on the slant motor and then only run it for four years when its done nothing but win awards. You cant just go backwards and make a blue ktm what would be the point. Sounds like ktm should keep their fingers out of husabergs pie and let the swede's do their thing. Bloody germans cant Mind their own business.

I believe all of your discussions, but i think everything is false. Husaberg will make the same 4 stroke bike for many years. Maybe, will arrive a few changes, but the slant motor will run in the next 4s bikes. I haven't any official information, but it's the probably thing will happen. It's a desire too. :bonk:

I don't want an orange Husaberg, thus if Husaberg change their bikes like you are saying, many owners will run away from orange maker, including me.

I suppose if it is true, it's due to KTM not wanting the Husaberg to be a "better" brand. It's the only thing that makes any sence! That motor has nothing but great reviews from all that have tested it. Even KTM owners who have ridden the Berg's and dealers who sell both KTM and Berg's have come right out and said that the Berg is the better bike.
Hell, even my local dealer told me not to buy a KTM but go with the Husaberg instead. He didnt have to convince me though, I already knew that!

Hey KTM.... whats gives? Pull your head out of your ass! What are you, scared!?

As it was explained to me by my (now defunct) Husaberg/KTM dealer, KTM bought Husaberg because they wanted H'Berg's FI technology.  If true, then KTM knew H'berg to be a superior machine from the very first.  So what's the damn problem now?  Ford sells Ford products, but if you want a fancier Ford you buy a Mercury.  Likewise Honda/Acura, BMW/Rolls Royce, Fiat/Alpha Romeo, Nissan/Infinity, etc.  It's how modern manufacturers organize and do business.  So why, in this international business environment, would KTM buck the trend at this point in time?

Because deep down the "Chevy Trail Blazer" is deeply envious and wants to be the top of the line "Cadillac Escalade"???
In the end, as long as I can continue to get parts for years to come, I'm all good. Might have to start stocking up now???!

Remember one thing, every coin you spend in HSB is to make rich KTM. This is the main reason to don't change the 4s models, because KTM have more kind of new costumers. I was a happy Honda crf450x owner, and I have never thought to buy a KTM, the orange color is very ugly to dress a bike with it, and in general terms, i don't like KTM bikes. But when i tried a new 4s HSB, i saw a new form to do enduro, it's very agile and furthermore is very beautiful!!!. KTM achieved to sell me a bike!!!. Why they would resign to those costumers?.

Don't worry about, we'll have 4s HSB with slant motor for many years. :bonk:

KTM didn't buy husaberg for their FI technology. KTM bought Husaberg in 1995. The reason for husaberg selling to KTM was they were going bankrupt again. Husaberg was formed about 1987-88 by the Husqvarna engineers who refused to go to intaly after huaqvarna was bought by Cagiva.

KTM bought Husaberg for their 4 stroke technology. In about 2002-2003 is when Husaberg started being produced in Austria with KTM's.

If some of you guys are so anti KTM why are your riding one? Honestly? Its like buying a GMC and saying I hate GM. Just doesn't make sense.

As for the 2013 who knows.....rumors are rumors. I bet one thing is for sure though.. New graphics!

I just dont like the color orange. seriously, Scrapping the 70 deg motor I think is  a step backwards. I would buy a ktm anyday before a jap bike. The only bike I thought of upgrading to was a fe 570 but with money tight I doubt I will sell my 450.

this pic has been explained on KTMtalk. iirc its just a one-off bike built for a rider, and has nothing to do with production bikes.

Not even really a one off. Just literally a KTM with yellow frame and husaberg graphics which is exactly the same thing the two stroke bergs are. You can make one yourself. A riding buddy of mine did it with a 200 XC but he did it a few months before they were available and just didn't ride it. Every one still thinks its a 2012 Husaberg whens its really a 2010 KTM. lol. I don't have the heart to tell them the truth.

I don't see the slant motor going anywhere. Its a different design. Better? Depends on who you ask.

Exactly and the KTM is a damn good bike. What the Berg guys like myself complain about is taking away the option of having options. The Berg in many ways is a KTM but you won't find a single KTM with a slanted 70 degree motor. I know it looks odd, but the motor is a dream..... I bought my Berg specificly because of the slanted motor and all the praise it got from anyone who tested it. Otherwise I would have bought another Husqvarna or a KTM.
