Just so you know : the same shock was used on the XT600 from 1984 through 1989 .

Ok pd350, if you look the two shocks up, they have diffrent part #'s and the 600's would have to atleast have a heavier spring on them wouldn't they. You might be right. Thats why I ask before I dive into something. It was a thought I had for a fairly quick fix to help rear suspension.

Maybe you could ask someone on here or an ebay seller with an XT600 shock to get you a couple of measurements before you spend any money on the thought .

It sounds like it might work Just by looking at pics of the two , it seems the lower 600 'eye' would have to be trimmed abit to fit the 350 yoke . Maybe a little off each side of the eye . I didn't look at the 600 yoke to see if that would work transplanted into a 350 , for a shock and yoke transplant .

Just thinking ...

Hey pd350,

That may be very true about doing alittle adaptation to make the 600 fit but if it would give you some better performance on rear, it might be worth it. I was hoping that in the great big world of thumpertalk, that maybe somebody would have already done it but I guess not. Maybe I will have to be the first. pd350, do you know of any other tricks to do to help rear suspension out?

You might think about increasing the preload via shimming . I've thought about doing that but haven't , yet . I don't know how much , if any , that would help . It would be cheap enough to try .

hey that may be another possibilty but you don't know whether it will work or not till you do try. Well thanks for the help and if I ever find any hard evidence that the 600 shock will fit over without problems, than I will let you know.
