I’ve found a new KTM 250 XCF-W 2009 left-over at an interesting price.
After more than 5 years it’s almost time to replace My current Yamaha WR250F '06 (290 big-bore, FMF powerbomb, Reckluse Z-Start and suspension revalved for my weight / use).
I have nothing to criticize on the WR, but I would like to sell it now that is still riding fine instead of waiting for the need of a rebuild.
Also in the last two years I started to participate in the SETRA Enduros and I’ll like to find  a bike that will allow me decently finish races even though my fitness/training is not ideal.
I tried a 310 and Husky 'and I' loved it but it costs almost $ 2,000 more than the KTM. Since I don’t know anybody owning a 250 XC-W and I never actually tried one I’ll be grateful if anybody around will give me some advise on this bike.

Thanks
Fabry

I have a 07 250XCFW, a friend bought his son a brand new left over 07 WR250F. The KTM has a 6 spd, has way more power every where , but maybe feels a little heavier. I would get rid of the WR for sure. I was very unimpressed as to its power and short gear box.

i have an 07 xcfw 250. my brother had a wr250f but has now moved up to a 450f. i'd have to disagree with the previous comments. the xcfw has different power....not more power. the xcfw seems to have a smoother power band. the wr tends to have a few peaks and troughs along the way. the wr is faster off the start and accelerates more quickly when you first twist the throttle. the xcfw power is smooth, steady and strong...always there. the wr is more inclined to wheelies. the xcfw has a more useable power...it digs and goes!

i was disappointed with my xcfw at first. i thought it had no ass as it didn't jump when i wicked the throttle like the wr does. but the more i ride it...the more i love it.

one of my riding chums got off his cr 250 2 stroke and borrowed my xcfw 250. after one ride he went out and bought an 09 xcfw 450. he said the cr was like riding a 'raped ape' in comparison.

Since you are coming off a big bore WR250F, you will miss the BB power in a stock KTM 250 XCF-W.  The simple solution would be to big bore the KTM.  Both HT Racing and Thumper Racing have reliable 300, 320 and 350 BB kits available.
