What cam were you running with the BB and how is your cam chain's integrity? The cam chain should bend freely at each link.
You may want to look into a new cam chain tensioner.

Contact can come from wrist pin slop, crank rod bearing excess clearance, cam timing off due to stretched chain, piston tilt, floating valve and excess carbon.

Did you notice you had only one valve contact the piston? You may have a weak valve spring. Depending on the cam used it can push the spring to the limits. If the spring is not the issue (you can test the springs with a tester) the piston may have tilted due to a bearing (main or rod).
When you take out the piston look at the cylinder walls to see if there is scrubbing on the sides (left and right) to indicate piston rock. Normally you will find some galling on the exhaust side skirt area.

Regardless you are looking at:
Piston
Crank
Cam chain
Main bearings
Tensioner
Valves
Springs
Gasket kit
Seal kit
head gaskets
Total:
225, 180, 40, 55, 55, 120, 100, 115, 50, 60
1000.00

Not including new clinder or headwork (re-cut seats) 125-150 valve job.

At least it will be a fun experience!

It's Impossible for me to leave something stock!!! Lol, that and I'm addicted to going fast!

There's an old drag racing saying that is appropriate here.

"How fast do you want to spend".

I am running a hot cams stage 3 cam. i think the keeper failed and that is why the valve loosened. the valves are magnetic so i do not think that they are titanium. i think the cylinder wall is fine and no abnormality's at all from the piston.. anyways i will not be using this head again i will be running my factory head with springs and valves and i had a guy at a head mod shop look at it and he said it was in great shape so i think i will be safe with the head until i send my other one out to get ported and rebuilt. i am posting pics now of the progress thus far so see if you see anything out of normal and let me know

not much of an update guys but the bike is torn apart and i figured i'd put up some pics and let you guys see where i am at in the beginning stages of this project. the spring and swing are dirty so i am going to clean them up the best that i can. i also noticed my chain guide on the swing arm should most definitely be changed.

here is the frame torn almost completely down.. i want to clean and polish up as much of it as i can.

here is the cylinder head taken off of the motor.. from the looks of it it appears in good shape but i am no expert so lemme know if you guys notice anything or want closer pics.

here is my factory head from the stock motor.. i am pretty anal about the engine being contaminated so i kind of want to clean it more.. or am i safe on that?

here is my motor somewhat torn down. the pictures speak for themselves so lemme know what you guys think.. both concerns and things that will be ok. what about the piston if it is ok.. should i leave the top or clean it up and if this.. what should i use to clean it up?

i was already planning on replacing the DID chain..but the sprockets are both Ironman Sprockets that are "supposed to" outlast my bike

They will outlast your bike if you use a good sealed chain, like DID's VT2, and replace it before it stretches beyond spec. If you run a stretched out conventional chain, you will wipe out any sprockets quickly.

Judging from how bad that sprocket looks, I'd say you're in for an expensive repair...

Have you figured out WHY you bent a valve?

And for 12-14 hours, why is the carbon buildup out of this world?

I think a keeper failed and that's why the valve went down.. once again I'm no expert so I think.

As for the carbon build up I do not know that's why I'm posting up all of these pics so you more experienced guys with all of this can give me some better insight.

Like I said before.. we will be going through the entire motor to make sure everything is within specs and good.

Were the collets (keepers) missing or out of place when you removed the head?

every thing on the head seemed normal until we lifted the head off and then all of a sudden the keepers fell out like they weren't even in place anymore and the valve fell out.. but before we lifted the head everything seemed fine..

ok so the keeper is why the valve fell.. it wore down and was no longer holding the valve up. because of that i am assuming that is why so much carbon built up from the faulty valve?

Not necessarily. If the spring lost it's tension and allowed the valve to float, the keepers could have been released when the piston hit the valve.

Is that something I can test with my own hands or should I get it inspected?

The spring was magnetic so that means they weren't titanium correct?
