So I have a 09 crf450.It has 30 hours on it.Was great until recenetly When I give it full throttle it just wont go.It will pop and sputter on top end.Seems its harder to start as well.Valves are good.Seems its something in the FI system. No trouble codes come on.Im leaning toward the fuel pump is bad.Is that what it sounds like? If it is can I put the newer 11/12 pump on it?
09 crf450 wont go wide open?

I agree that it sounds like the fuel pump or maybe the injector. But before replacing parts, you should know that you can disassemble the fuel pump and clean the filter in it.
I bet that you already have done this, but check your spark plug too.

Id bet bad filter.
Drop the pump out and take apart the assembly and look at the screen really closely. You can test the pump for volume. It should fill a 12 oz can in less than 30 seconds using a 12V source.

Do I just clean the filter with some carb cleaner I assume?
You could do that. blow backwards through the filter with compressed air and rinse out the tank really well too. You can test the pump volume without the filter to rule out a bad pump motor. Dont try to run the bike without the filter in place. You'll just end up having to buy a new injector too.

just buy a kit from motosports only 40 dollars. i own a 2010 and have replaced it like three times. It is very simple just search for it on here you will find step by step directions. Takes about 25 minutes or so.

Normaly you don't get pop and sputter when the fuel pump or filter goes bad. Usually the motor will just bog like the intake is stuffed with something.
Not I said usually....

Here is a Fuel Filter Bulletin on the topic of your problem your having with the bike. I just replace mine yesterday. Just purchase the fuel filter kit from your local Honda dealer shop. Here is the Part No. 06160-MEN-A31, for the fuel filter kit.

Check one thing, its a simple but really weird thing that happened to me......Ground wire ...If its at all alittle loose it will do that and can be a bugger to start...I almost ripped my whole FI sytem apart, and then I stumbled on it when going over all my wiring connections...Just another thought , hope it helps..
