Final bit of help..Of course the manual tells you how to put it back together,,that's what manuals are for,,We can't be holding your hand forever..Valve timing..putting in the cam ,,Look it up.

I assume you have the manual,,use it. I tried to tell you to do it properly or there'd be problems,,you don't seem to listen..Sorry but my patience levels gone in the help department. Seem to repeat myself ad nauseum and it doesn't register ,eventually I just give up..

Hi , I do have the manual but its for the XL 500 and XL 400 ,I know the xr is basically the same engine , I have the engine apart again , if there is any possibility of it being a internal problem .
And I wanted to add another thing , the bike started and ran nicely , drove it around the block a few times to run in the rings . I let it sit , and it started again nicely
I decided it would be ready for a nice run in the holiday and it died never to start again
Thanks

Ok
Thanks for the help Horri , I found the problem , the key way on the fly wheel snapped and that caused the ignition problems.
Thanks

Hi guys
Just wanted to say the true problem ...
The magnets on the flywheel where loose causing them to touch the coils and threrfore dirupting the charge for the ignition.
Hope this helps someone else in the future
