Hey Brothers and Sisters,
while thumping about the other warm winter day I lost my gas cap (the lock was broken, it must have shaken loose, there was an earthquake, hurricane, whatever! I'm an idiot).
At this moment I've got it rigged with a rubber stopper plug and a bunjee cord....stop laughing, you guys! I'm still riding!
Of course, our fine friends at Suzuki want an arm and a leg for a replacement, aftermarket only saves a couple of bucks and we're still in the $80-$90 range.
However, these guys: http://www.kientech....0Gas%20Cap.html have a product for $30 that fits an IMS gas tank, but I don't know (and am waiting for a response) whether or not that will work on my tank or not, because "IMS" sounds like a lower gastrointestinal disorder to me.
Also wouldn't mind upgrading to the 4+ gallon tank from the 3+ factory tank that's on there now, but I'll need a better reason than a gas cap to blow nearly $300 on a new tank when I can just strap a spare can on the back, hopefully with a tight lid on it. If you see someone flying across a hay field, on fire because his rigged gas cap leaked onto his crotch and his spare gas can spewed fuel over his back, and he was dumb enough to light a cigarette while thumping....that's me.
Anyway:
- thoughts on the kientech cap, will it work?
- is my factory tank IMS, and what does IMS stand for anyway?
- cheap leads or web links on a new gas cap for a factory tank, and/or the higher capacity tank I mentioned?
Thanks, all
Spencer
