Hello.
I have a 96' dohc Suzuki 250 Djebel.
I think these are very similar tot the DR-Z's etc.
Recently, I was trailering it home after a weekend ride when the sidestand bracket broke and the bike fell on its side.
As it couldn't "sit up" any more I made sure it it was secure and came home.
Since then the bike has misfired on anything other than low revs.
It starts, ticks over fine up to about 3/4000? ( no rev counter). After that it begins to misfire topping out at about 5/6000?.
It is almost exactly the same on the road. Initially it pulls really well then the misfire. pulling the choke on helps a little
I have cleaned and checked fuel tap, filters, float height and carb out thoroughly and found nothing except when I the partially cover the carb bellmouth it seems to help as the revs increase before the misfire starts.
I cannot be sure it is carb related but I need to eliminate the ignition side.
I have tried a new HT coil, it made no differance and as DJEBEL CDI units are rare as hell and I can't swap one over to test, are there any electronic geniuses out there who have knocked up a CDI checker or any one who has a circuit for a voltage pulse adaptor for multimeters.
Iv'e tried Google but come across nothing useful, though there are some useful CDI links on boat engine sites.
The bike was Bloody brilliant before this event.
