Any new info on the "alleged" lightweight model some guy posted about a while back? The new KTM 4stk's have set a new standard but the EFI is as bogus as on the Husabergs.

Never heard about a lightweight model... What is lightweight? They are light now for 4 strokes.

Was posted on this forum a couple months ago with photos of a stripped bike in a show in Europe. Conjecture was it was an mx or cross country model akin to the KTM XC series. No lights, etc.

There was a pic on Beta-talk. It looked like an RR. They called it an mX version. MX version is what the thread was called. That's all I know about it!

242 lbs is light no matter where you ride in my opinion. except trials. My Beta trials is heavy at 177 lbs.

OK,
242 dry = 252 wet! for a street legal enduro bike! :bonk:

And from dry to wet is much more than 10lbs.

Ok so my 525 RS wet with half a tank of gas , turn signals and lights etc ..was 262 or 261 lbs?.... i took it down and had it weighed..... I forget now exactly...one of those 2 . So I added a big tank, a rear rack, a bigger skidplate, barkbusters , a scotts damper, disc guards front and back, a flatland and a scotts.., flatland radiator guards and an HT cooler. I broke off my rear turn signals and switched out the rear RS tail light for the RR rear lights.. Oh yea I dropped some weight putting on an fmf slip on exhaust. I don't know what it is weight wise but it's damn good for a street legal dirt bike.....and so much for me originally riding more light trails with my Beta. That just went south after riding it. I just couldn't resist myself so now my Beta is getting used like it should . It's getting ridden in rocky riverbeds and other harder stuff. If I want light I go to my cr 250. I say go 2 stroke for lightness. There's still a need for guards to me but I guess you can just run it without if lightness is of supreme importance. You can run a bike relatively stock but may risk some damage depending on what you ride. You don't have to run a big tank or dampers or anything. ..but I guess you could run say a ktm 2 stroke 300 and not put guards on that if low weight is a big desire.

I bet a Beta would be a great MX bike.... just gear it right and set up the suspension and go. .. ...

262 ready to ride is excellent. My XR4 dry is 262 but feels lighter when riding due to its short wheelbase and geometry. Until you get into deep sand whoops! But a modern MX/XC is a whole 'nother story. I think an RR could be easily lowered 10lbs. My op was just to inquire about the alleged "lightweight" model someone else stated was in the works.

I understand Beta Italy will be making an anouncement on the "Cross Country" within the next week or two. I think only 350 and 400 but have to wait and see.

Basically an RR with 19" rear wheel, no headlight and simplified wiring, retuned suspension and engine.

Designed for MX and cross country events. Not able to be registered.

No idea if American Beta is bringing them in????

Should be interesting.

I don't see more than a handfull(if that) riders even riding Beta in woods competition. I would bet those using a 19 will be rather scarce. Kinda like Beta/Husky dealers.

Whats with Texas and dealers? I have two Beta and Husky dealers both within 20 minutes of me in each direction! :bonk:

Their answer to me is that the bikes sat on the floor long enough to stick. Neither expect to order more. Also very worried about the economy going forward and just not conducive to taking the risk.

Ok I guess you guys are talking about this bike: I'd want one.. I like the 18" rear wheel too. I'd like the light too... I've been using mine a bunch lately coming home in the dark.. I'd rather have the 498 though....

I'd guess that the power would be more aggressive. That would be good although the power is great as it is for me.

Exactly... with a few foofoo changes.. but what's with no skidplate? to lighten it? lol.... Who knows though. the bike could be radical power-wise.. I kind of doubt it but I'm just guessing. Beta had motocross bikes earlier. They might tap into that more than some of the trials motor properties that the enduro bikes enjoy now . It's cool but doesn't interest me as much . I would want what's already out which would be a newer 498 but RS if anything. Right now I'm just still loving my 09 525 RS . Next year or so I may look at an upgrade. Still wondering about the 2 stroke Beta's in enduro form. I would be more interested in that than the 350rr 4t Beta .

Seems like everyone I know that has,,, had a 19” wheel swap back to a 18”. I was looking to add this to my next bike because of the benefit of size, larger easier to roll over things. The more I research it, the more here in the states we don’t like it. This is for woods/HS/GNCC type riding/racing. Anyone uses one on a Beta?

The 18" and 19" are pretty much the same diameter . It's just a stiffer , shorter sidewall thing for less rollover in turns ... This doesn't matter if it's in the states or not from my reading but where did you get the impression it is considered better other than the US.?

You don't put a skidplate on a MX bike hawaii! It's pointless. There aren't any rocks to bust your case on lol.

I guess so. I just never thought of not ever having one on any of my bikes. ..plus this is an xc..and doesn't seem to be totally mx. I've always used my one bike to do everything with. Trail, hare n hounds, Mx and whatever. I don't know though ...even on an mx track you come up short and case jumps etc... at least a glide plate..but the stock rr skid plate is light and small. without it the downtubes will get hit.
