Dare I ask if anyone else that lives in Florida dives on a regular basis?

Typically when I'm not at Croom I'm in the water at Jupiter, West Palm, LBTS, or the Keys.

Hey, I was just going to PM you about getting certified!!!

I'm might be hitting the Bahamas soon and one of the excursions I wanted to go on needs a scuba cert. Can you recommend anyone? PM if necessary.

I dove for a couple of years. Past tense. I've dived once in the last 20 years. Somberro reef is a beautiful shallow reef. One of my favorites in the keys.

Its been a few years but I used to work as crew and dive guide on a few boats out of Riviera Beach Marina. Also did lots of hunting out in the MiddleGrounds in the Gulf . . . Good stuff, probably get back into it when my son is a little older.

I just moved to Palm Beach Gardens, getting certified is my number one priority right now. Any suggestions on where to get certified? Divers direct is trying to charge 450+boat fees

Divers Direct is overpriced on most everything in my dealings with them. However they carry a lot of stock which is the upside.

Contact Kevin Metz. He was awarded divemaster of the year last year.

You live in a great area to dive. Force-E is near you as well. There a great group.

We head over that way a lot. Blue Heron Bridge is an awesome dive which is right there, and you don't have to jump off a boat.

Most of the reefs in that area are incredible.

Sombrero is my favorite reef period. The wife and I have been a lot of different places, and that reef is just special.

It's nice to know that it's still special after 20 years.

I signed up for the class, I should be done at the end of this month. I have the basics, just need the scuba specific stuff and I'll be down to dive almost any time.

Hey Reef -

Nice pics. I'm jonesin' for a dip. I sold my charter boat last year and had to give up teaching as well. I'm looking forward to getting back to diving for fun though. It should be a pretty nice spring on our side.

Justin let me know when you finish your cert.

Ty, the wife and I head over to the east side all the time.

Jupiter is our favorite spot. Also LBTS is a blast, and you can't beat it for a shore dive.

We are headed to Coz in a few months.

Looe key is definately bigger and a very nice dive. Somberro is a shallow dive with a great consentration of sea life and lots of bottom time.

PS. I'm in Key West typing this. Went snorkeling on Wednesday and saw a Lion fish as soon as I got to the reef. Evidentally they are taking over down here.

There are Lion Fish in the Gulf now. The Keys have had them for years, and you can see the effects. You should hit the Vandenberg while your in Key West.

I can second that! The place is really neat, and some of the entertainers are funny as hell!
