Is there any reason why Honda and Yamaha aren't in the 65cc market? It sure would be awesome if they were.....

I wonder why the Yamaha steps are:
PW50 19 inch seat height tame, single speed
21.8 TT-R50 tame three speed
25/24.6 PW80/TT-R90 more power three speed
26.4 TT-R110 a bit more grunt
Big step
29 TT-R125 great all around big kid/small adult bike
BAM!
34! YZ85 RING-DIDDID-DING-DING-DING!

At least the Honda step is gradual from XR50 all the way through CRF 230 in both seat height and power delivery.

I'm going to take a wild guess that Honda and Yamaha don't want to compete in the mini-mx class as they have Kawi and a bunch of boutique bikes to compete with already.

I say its because the low numbers of sales per year dictated that it wasn't a worth while endeavor.

Based on all the money they make on the PW50, i would imagine they would want to try and keep some of these consumer dollars by offering a YZ65 to keep some of these customers in the Yamaha family.

I think the TTR-50 could be eliminated - I'm sure the CRF-50 easily outsells it.

I also think either the PW80 or TTR-90 should be eliminated - although there different bikes having both of them in the line-up seems a little redundant - I wouldn't be suprised if the CRF-70 out sells these bikes as well.

To bad their line-up isn't...

PW50
PW80 or TTR-90 (eliminate 1 from the line-up)
YZ65
YZ85
TTR-110

I "borrowed" the pic below from 1 of you guys....But how awesome would it be to see a Yahama YZ65 line up against the KTM's, Kawi - Suzuki's and the Cobras???

I would think the play bikes way outsell the serious race bikes.  Even for the adults, how many of the big bikes actually get raced?  Maybe 30%?  Not enough units to justify the R&D to be "competetive" adding two more manufacturers.  The KTM is the only one getting regular development.  My boy's RM (KX) was blue like the one above until the plastic was ragged out.  Now he has new black Monster plastic for it.

Yep!  That's my son in the picture.  You can buy red or blue plastics for a KX65 and make them into whatever you want to.  It's no different than Suzuki buying their 65 from Kawasaki and putting yellow plastics on it and calling it an RM65.  I'd really like to see somebody do up a CR65!

Anyways, it's always fun to turn people's heads as they try to figure it out!

I'm a Yamaha guy, been one for a LONG time. My kids both had new Yamaha PW's, but after the PW's I bought KTM's. I've bought KTM 50's and now 65's. It's strange to walk in the Yamaha dealer and buy NOTHING. I stop in sometimes and say Hi to all the guys but I walk out empty handed.

There were YZ60 & CR60's back in the day.  No money in them know.  Cobra & KTM lead the way and are much better than anything else out there at this point..............
