early z50's were street legal, and you can buy a knock-off street legal z50 for about $1000 - $1200... or more depending on how fancy you want to get.
Not sure where in Texas you're going to school, but there's a YSR up in Oklahoma for $975 on CL. Also, I bought a Z50 from a guy with a bunch of little bikes in Fort Worth... he has some YSR's, Apes, and other crazy little bikes. I can't find his CL ad, but I'll bet everything he has is for sale for the right price, if you're interested.
