My 1998 enduro has the lighting stator attached to the flywheel which in effect is a pretty heavy flywheel weight!. I recently removed it and the bike had masses more power and could pick up very easily from low revs which was great in town I could put it in top gear And cruise rather than constantly changing gear.

I use the bike alot a night so keeping it removed is not an option

My question is can I modify my normal stator to add a lighting coil to it?. And can I use my current flywheel or will I need a different one?

After reading a few Topics about the crosser boys converting for road i read somewhere that you can mod the stator to run a lightning coil. So I'm now wondering if this is something I can do on my Tm

The flywheel alternator is currently back on and it feels like I've got a 20 stone passenger it really does make a huge difference!

Any help appreciated

Get a trailtech K2 stator for a KTM around 200 model I think, it is the same with the lighting coil wound in.
You will have to change the backing plates though as they are different and don't line up.

did it on my 2002 TM 250 EN , so pretty sure the 125 has same stator.

What I would try first is to take your stock Flywheel / stator into a machime shop and see if they can lighten it. Make sure the can balance it also. You might also take in the ignition flywheel as well. Even though those Ducati units are heavy, they can power about anything. Anytype of power producing device can be made by passing a magnet passed over coil of wire. If you want to change the actuall electronics, I would look for a complete kit. Or you could rob the lighting system from something like a yamaha WR. Mount the lighting coils on you ignition plate and use the WR VR. However, ***BUT**, the ignition magnet on your bike might not be strong enough (Teslas) to excite the lighting coils enough.

I would try making the flywheel lighter first.
