Any mods that you can do to an 06 or 07 (I think) wr250f will work with your gasgas. As they are the same engine.

That is a very quick turning bike!. Depending on your riding style you might have to do some work on the forks.

Engine will be slow reving compared to a 2t. But you will be going just as fast as the 2t without the tiring feel at the end of the day. Or the motor was not set-up correctly or in need of refreashing. Yamaha motors are on the low side of HP but very good at tracrion for a jap bike. Most 250f's like to be ridden mid to upper RPM. They will feel sluggest when at low, below 3000 rpms vs. 2t.

Your comparing a 33-35hp engine to a 45-50hp engine in the 2 strokes....No way any 250f will comare to a 250/300 powerwise

Thanx for the interesting comments. I've been riding yz250f's since late 09 on a 09 model to now on a 2011. The motor i'm not too worried about, as i'm familar with them how to get them working well with adequate power. It's easier to fix a slow motor than a badly set up chassis and suspention. I owned a 08 wr 250f and hated it! The thing just didn't suit my style at all. I couldn't get used to the weight displacement, heavy front end feel, slow turning and rubbish forks. Other questions i have on them are.
1/ Does the setup feel Japanese or european? as newer KTM's, TM's have a japanese feel to them not like there bikes of old. The euro setup doesn't suit my style and in my opinion suits taller rides as i'm not tall at 5'7.
2/ How does the marzochi forks go? on the soft side.

1/ more japanese than european, feels nothing like a ktm and suits shorter riders.
2/ set up pretty soft, depending on what spec you got. There are plenty of tuners who will work on them, head over to http://www.gasgasrid...forum/index.php and have a look around for a good marzocchi tuner.

Judging by your post Your going to have certain expectations and degree of sophistication regarding bikes. If your riding modern yzf's and hated the wr you might be wise to stay away. Its more wr than yzf. Also the forks are junk compared to modern cc forks , their an early 90's designe that can be made to work decently but will require replacing the base pistons with high flow ones, not a big deal @ $200. but you still end up with an budget open chamber fork designe that requires very freqent oil changes and have a propensity to wear quickly if you are a big hour rider. There is a guy in Oz who replaced the front end on his two stroke gasser with a 46mm kyb unit, but unless you get the bike for next to nothing , whats the point. Reading between the lines.Thats just my two cents worth.

Your on the ball there widebear. Amen to that. A Yamaha&Husky dealer near me told me that the marzzochis are ordinary at best and husky have ditched them for KYB on some newer stuff which is interesting news to me. Looks like it back to the drawing board as to which enduro bike will be good for me.
