Hi everybody, this must be my 3rd or 4th thread on preloading, but now I'm confused again. Some people tell me to just push on the footpegs to compress the rear shock only, while other people tell me to push on the footpegs AND the handlebars at the same time to compress front AND back suspension. Should I only push on the rear, or the whole bike at once?

i personally think that it could b either one depending on the jump

It really depends on the jump and what your after. If you want a flatter boost then you'll want to preload from the pegs which in most cases will act like a seat bounce without putting the nose down. If you want the nose to be slightly high, then you'll preload the entire bike. You really just gotta try stuff and figure out what works in the particular situation. I never go into a situation knowing for sure what I should do the first time around, it takes some input to figure things out.

I really believe you are overthinking this. I don't really pay attention to how I preload. I just do it. I might make subconscious adjustments next lap based on how it worked the lap before, but the only thing I really pay attention to is how hard I preload.

Can you bunny hop a pedal bike?  I feel like it's pretty much the same movement.  Practice on a cinder block&plywood ramp with a BMX bike or a scooter.  First just jump off it, then try to go farther than your last tire track, and keep going until you can't jump any farther.  Then try it on your motorbike.  You'll see how it works, but basically you're just jumping to unweight the bike in the air, and then pulling it up with you. Same as a bunny hop.

+1 Totally!  Bagget is like, for sure, the biggest spode on the track. Like, everywhere he goes

Anyway I maybe didn't make it clear, but you don't pull just by the bars when you preload or when you bunny hop. It's 90% with your legs and feet, then you just change the attitude of the bike with your arms.

If you get to where you're sort of half doing it, you'll find the timing pretty quickly just from the feeling.  as long as you practise on a table or single, the worst that can happen is you dead-sailor a couple times until you figure it out :bonk:

I agree, if you try to pull your bike into the air with your body instead of using your throttle to propel the bike into the air, you will look stupid when you come up way short, if not get hurt.
