Here's another time lapse, this time the whole bike! I'm so happy to have it finally back together... Too bad NOW is when we get all the snow :bonk:

I addition to being totally stripped and cleaned, she has been refreshed with a new piston assembly, new oil seals, new swingarm and linkage bearings. A custom, designed and built by me Titanium linkage. The stock one was pretty smashed up. New fork seals, rebuilt rear shock, new chain, new grips, new plastics. S3 red bar ends, snail cams, and lever adjusters. I also have an AJP front MC, Jitse rear brake, and Zeta levers on order with Lewisport

The "pretty" plastics came with it when I got it and have all of the appropriate decals. I was using it with the cracked and repaired plastics that also came with it so I didn't ruin the nice ones. I got a new pair of plain red plastics that I will be using now, I just wanted to put the nice ones on for the video.

I'm going to go crazy waiting for the snow to melt so I can take it out for break in and a first ride!

Thanks! It's in really good shape aside from a scratch here or there... I'm sure there will be many more as I try to learn more advanced stuff, too!

haha, I've been telling myself I need to build one for a while I just never get around to it. ..

I'd love to play in the hangar, but it's also a machine shop and with design offices and I'm the only one in there that thinks that burnt 2 stroke exhaust should be sold as an air freshener :smirk:

The assembly took about 4-5 hours, although that's not counting some setbacks due to the camera running out of batteries. I had to pull a bunch of stuff and put it back on for that :bonk:

Today we had some sun, and about half of the driveway was clear of ice so I couldn't help but go for a ride! I don't know if it's the new FMF exhaust, or the fresh topend, or a combo of both but there as a noticeable increase in power! It started on the third kick and I was able to take the choke off after only a little while without it stalling. For break-in I decided to try running it up the runway (with 4-6" of wet snow!) That was perfect because I was able to keep the engine under load in 4th without having to drag the brakes. After chugging, spinning, slipping and sliding up the hill I noticed that I was overheating because the fan wasn't working so I let it cool off for a while and took it back to the shop... I'll have to do some tests to figure out what exactly is wrong but overall I'm grinning ear to ear!

Pretty cool man! Looks like great minds think alike. I lapsed my '99 Gas Gas 320TX build a few months back but never really edited it beyond just a quick peek at one of the two angles I shot. Sooo fun. Mine was an all-nighter on Halloween. You're pretty quick though! You save lots of time not smoking...About a quarter of my video is me plopping into a chair and smoking :( I'll post soon.

Wow, that's about what I paid for mine. It looks about the same shape or maybe better, and it comes with the headlight and speedometer. Probably a good deal!

That's actually a decent price for a 4RT in that condition. I'd pick it up if I had 7k to blow... I'd sell off both kidneys if it was a Repsol! :goofy:

Is this a decent deal on a Montesa?

http://portland.crai...2934873861.html

I'd like to look at it, but need to sell my YZ450 first......

Any problem getting parts for bike of that year?

Thanks for the reply, Laser17!

I appreciate that! I've emailed the seller, and hope to hear from him!

762SPR, I apologize for the thread hijack.

I do like your vid & your bike, a lot!!! :worthy: Was there a metric ton of editing to make that? Was it done with a GoPro?
How's the bike to ride???

Side Note to 762SPR, or other Idaho members: I drove through southern Idaho this past weekend, on the way back from Utah. Went along I-84. Around the town of Jerome, and other towns along the interstate there, were these Marmot/Woodchuck/Rockchuck/Gopher/Weasel like creatures, all over the place. Alongside the road, dead in the road, laying in the sun, out in fields, sticking their heads up, running around, & etc. You know what those things are?

Woops! Haven't been on here in a while... Yes, it was done with a GoPro on I think either 10 or 15 second intervals IIRC. Not much in the way of editing. I deleted a few frames where nothing was happening like I had to go take a leak or something :smirk: Other than that I just slowed it down and added the sound.

It runs great! Pulls a lot harder now, too!

As for the Varmint you noticed, I'm not entirely sure. I live way up north but I've heard them called just about every thing you've listed... Farmers hate them and have guys with nice rifles come up and shoot them all day long!

Too bad about the bike! Hopefully another one comes along soon!
