I have a 1982 WR250 that I am trying to export from California to my friend in Cornuba. I cannot find the engine number. Can you tell me where the engine number is on your?

Nope - not under the carb. Husky Club advises on the numbering convention and guesses on the location (left sidecase on a CR) - not definitive though. Sent an email to John LeFevre - hope for the best.
