I have them on my R1 as well and I never had any issue... but the R1 has never hit the ground, left the ground or anything in between. A dirt bike takes a whole different kind of beating. Like I said I havnt ran them on dirt for quite a while, but I had them (the F3's) on my 450, 250, and 125 at one point, and all three sets did the same thing. They became extremely sloppy over time. I ran them for appx 2 seasons on each bike. Went back to some stock levers and havnt had an issue yet. The key for me is to leave the clamp just loose enough so it doesnt spin while riding but will spin when it hits the ground, I picked it up from watching the pros outdoors and have been using this method for a few years now and havnt broken a lever since.

Lol that was a no-brainer for me even when i was brand new to dirtbikes, and my friend who races told me not to do that so i listened to him, torqued it down, and broke my clutch lever that same week. Needless to say, we are no longer best-friends

Finally had some good riding time these past couple weekends. The bike runs amazing and always starts 1st or 2nd kick.

I picked up a new front tire, front bearings, new front 2011 YZF fender and number plate, rad. shrouds, mud guard, seat cover, rear fender, side panels, Factory Effex OEM style graphics, and new kick starter (old one was floppy). I just replaced the spark plug for good measures, the old one was barely tightened down. I need to re-jet the bike since I'm getting a lot of spooge. The old plug was pretty wet when I pulled it out but clean....I'm assuming that it's running pretty rich?

I also need suggestions on how to get my clutch pull to be easier, I lubed up the cable and that barely did anything... I'm getting quite a bit of arm pump from it. Would it be worth going to a hydraulic setup?

I'm picking up a G2 throttle tamer tube here soon... Can anyone tell me if I should get the Pro or Expert model? And how about the G2 hand guard system?

Thanks again guys!

Heres's a pic from todays ride (YZF fender and number plate isn't installed yet, same with the side panels and rad. shrouds.)

Get a whole new cable. I got a brand new motion-pro cable on my 2002 rm125 and my clutch was easier to pull and was a lot more smooth. I was very suprized at how much it helped considering it costs $13 lol
if it is still too hard after that, your push rod could be bent or even broken inside the cases which would be really bad..

Thanks for the tip! I'll go pick up a new cable and start from there.

Hey guys I've been lerking this forum for a while now and posted in the KTM section a while back when I had my 125 EXC.

Long story short, Had problems with the KTM and ended up selling it over a year ago, My cousin kept bugging me about getting another bike so after looking for few days I found a deal on this 2001 YZ250. The previous owner said the top end has been redone last june and the bike rode great.

Came with all new bearings, FMF fatty, FMF silencer, V-Force reeds, Renthal bars with Applied triple clamp, MSR shifter, claimed to have revalved forks and shock (idk how to confirm that unless i tear it apart), and few other goodies including paddle tires already on wheel assemblies.

crappy phone pic of my YZ and my cousin's 06 RM250

Only thing mechanically I had to replace was the floppy kick starter that should be coming in on tuesday. I ordered a new front and rear fender, new OEM style graphics, and seat cover. Still need to get new foot pegs since these are pretty worn down.

going to keep buying things for this but my drift car has most of funds.

WOW! i like that 06 RM250 ---- arguably the best RM250 to come out and the one that hits hard off-the-bottom; designed based on the preference of Weeckyy Carmichael "I want my power to come out quick the moment I twist the throttle. I prefer having the surge as soon as I need it" ....Thus, this RM250 was born.

However, not all mere mortals could handle the surge that Suzuki received mixed feedbacks from owners the reason why the 07 RM is mellowed out a bit....

The front plastic looks really good. I would like to know if you had to modify anything or do they bolt right on.

You just have to elongate the front 2 holes for the fender to fit.

I think its Cycra (not sure though) that makes one predrilled for the Yz 2 stroke. They bolt right up with no modification needed. Best part is they are the same price, but you can usually find the stuff on ebay for half the price.

Yeah he picked up the RM for a steal! it originally had no title but after couple weeks the previous owner found the title and mailed it to him. I like his bike a lot just not his bars.

What i did was, I took the original fender to use as a template, found the middle point then marked and drilled new holes. its not 100% perfect but its close enough where you wouldn't be able to tell. If I remember correctly i had to open up the back holes and drill new holes up front.

Thanks man! I wanted to make this bike look a lot newer than a 2001, as well clean and factory looking. I'm going to pick up some more parts and mods.

parts/mod list

G2 Ergonomics bark busters and shields
Decal Works numbers
new pegs (I need them bad)
VaporTech gauge
Pro Taper grips
grip tape to cover all the bare metal on the frame
front fender bag
eventually new Excel rims
ASV levers
new clutch cable
brake pads and SS braided lines
switch to my black airbox
retune the bike
rekluse exp 2.0
new clutch and stator cover

thats about it, I plan on keeping this bike for at least 2 years then maybe upgrade to an newer YZ250 or keep this and pick up a KTM as well.

Thanks again guys!

the front plate and fender are from a 2011 YZ450F or YZF450 I always forget where the "F" goes haha. The rear fender, side number plates, and shrouds are still original 2001 YZ250. all from Acerbis.

I ridden with the rear fender twice so far, both for about 4 hours straight. its getting pretty scratched up from kicking my leg over and branches, so i think I'm going to order some kind of decal for the rear fender as well to help protect the plastic.

Oh and that big hole in the swing arm. one side has a plug, so I assume I'm missing one? If so does any body make them or am I going to have to buy OEM ones? Thanks guys, TT has been such a great help for setting the bike up how I want it!

Oh and if any of you guys are in Washington state I have a pretty much brand new Acerbis front fender that only seen 2 rides with some scratches that I'll let go for cheap. (10 bucks or whatevers) just lmk and I can meet from Everett - Kirkland.
