got the kx100 fork swap done no problem, the kx100 shock was a bit harder, i did the upper frame mod and ground down the frame, the shock is still very lightly rubbing the frame, hopefully it doesn't rub much while riding. wish i could put up a picture!!

I bought a 2001 KX 85 basket case. The angle grinder came in handy! I'd recommend looking at some of the other posts by other owners that have done this. I followed a really great couple of posts that had some great details.

There some things I ran into that took some time. I'm kind of a perfectionist. Flipping the shock linkage and grinding took some time to get it right. The same went with grinding down the upper shock mount. There was a lot of grinding and putting the shock up to check clearances. I would make sure you have the upper mount ground back far enough so that there is no rubbing on the frame. I took a handy rattle can of hammerite and painted the lower linkage.

The front fork required an additional washer under the top triple clamp. Luckily I had a top steering stem dust cover left over from my KTM that worked perfectly. Without it, the steering stem nut bottoms out on the threads and there's play in the bearings. I ended up using the KX front number plate and the stock KLX fender. The plate rubs against the tank shrouds at full turn. I'll probably swap out to a KX fender.

I also followed the recommendation of locating the choke down next to the carb and eliminated the kill button. It's a really slick set up. Now I just need to lengthen the kick stand another 2".

Congrats on the mod project. It really makes the KLX a better bike. I looked on eBay and lucked out by only spending 275.00 on a KX locally. Do a search for KX 100 in this forum and you'll see some other builds.

I'm only having a little trouble with the kx 100 rear shock, the adjustment clickers turn fine but they turn forever, they never stop, is this normal, anyone??

When I switched out the KLX clevis onto the KX shock, I was really careful not to move any of the internals around. I don't recall having any issues with the clicker after that. As a matter of fact, I think I turned it all the way in before the swap. After the swap I turned it back out. I'll have to look at mine.
