The Paul Feeney Group (PFG), Australian importer for Husqvarna Motorcycles, has reported another all time record retail sales year for Husqvarna Motorcycles in 2011.

Husqvarna achieved 1930 retail sales, a growth of 19.6% compared with 2010. Husqvarna's growth in the Off Road market segment was even higher at 20.9% compared to 2010.

The latest Datamotive figures showed an increase of 3% in the total motorcycle market retail sales in 2011, mainly driven by the strong ATV and scooter segments. The Off Road market declined for the fourth year in row and 2011 finished -4.5% down on 2010 figures.

The Husqvarna brand was one of only two manufacturers in the Australian motorcycle market to post positive gains in 2011 vs. 2010 in the Off Road segment.

PFG claim that this outstanding performance is driven by a variety of factors including a strong and committed Husqvarna dealer network, product advances in product quality and outstanding reliability have greatly contributed to a very high level of customer satisfaction and resultant sales, new models like the CR 65 mini cross and the revolutionary TE 449 and TE 511 enduro machines and success in racing with 2 world titles in the World Enduro Championship by Antonio Meo and Juha Salminen.

The combination of a very competitive retail pricing strategy, a strong and expanding dealer network, the introduction of completely new road models like Nuda 900 and Nuda 900R along with a further expanding model range that should see the Husqvarna brand continue to achieve its market growth in 2012.

Don't even go there... for some odd reason the Australians know how to get things done!

Smaller country and the Australians import everything Husqvarna makes... Nuda's, Mini's, 630's... everything.

Here in the states we do things differently.

I thought I read that world wide Husky sales were down close to 20%. I would expect that the US numbers were not impressive. Just guessing though.

Worldwide figures here:

https://www.press.bm...item=node__2201

This is BMW's Q3 report, released in November last year. A couple of snippets:

Quote

(Husqvarna) Deliveries to customers:

3rd quarter 2011: 2550

3rd quarter 2010: 2601

Change in %: -2.0

January - September 2011: 6080

January - September 2010: 7260

Change in %: -16.3

So it's not great from a Husky point of view, especially as the new factory's capacity in 20,000 units per annum iirrc.

On a happier note, I saw a couple of Nudas in my local dealership last week and they look a lot leaner in the flesh than they do in pictures. Ideal hooligan bikes imo.

Totally tanked in NZ, down 38% '10 to '11 to the massive(not) number of 43, I made up 2.2% of sales :bonk:, overall market was up 8.8% ( includes Farm bikes ), KTM was up 10%.
Interesting stat from Aussie Husky were 40% of KTM sales(4812), wonder where else in the world they are that close, kinda raises the question did Husky sold more bikes in Aussie that the USA in 2011?. If so a fine effort by PFG.

PFG and the Aussies get it!

They've distribute eveything Husqvarna has to offer and they just don't hold back and play it safe.

They run it like a successful business and take chances... which have all paid off huge.

You have to hand it to those Aussies... they know how to get it done! :bonk:

There are some seriously professional motorsport teams in Oz, their loose equivalent of NASCAR the V8 Supercars rocks big time & Chad Reed spent quite some time with the Vodafone Team management from memory in the last few years before he started his own team ( unlikely to be a coincidence how successful the launch of his own team was ).

Maybe tangential to PFG, but I think that professionalism filters through the motorsport community.

The biggest issue from over here I see they face is their GNCC, the AORC ( Aussie Off Road Cup ) is not generating the sort of numbers competing they need, I still can't believe the competitor numbers at GNCC events in the US, it makes for something very special and I don't think either Aussie or NZ have hit on a local formula to replicate it's success.

A few years ago I remember reading something about some big extreme race you guys have on one some island or maybe even New Zealand... from what I remember people came from all over and it looked like a really well attended event.

The Finke desert race in Oz is pretty cool and the A4DE ( Aussie 4 day enduro ) does well, it's more the series that are struggling. Two man cross country is getting some good numbers in NZ ( swap riders and or bikes every lap ). The economy has not exactly helped, but it looks to me like peoples tastes are changing and they don't just want to race, the two man becomes a very social event in the pits, which I think is a big part of the attraction.

Husqvarna Market Share and HMNA Retail Sales Up in 2011
The trend continues as sales and market share continue to rise in 2012

Corona, CA - February 7, 2012 - Despite enduring a tough economic climate in the past few years, Husqvarna Motorcycles North America (HMNA) is proud to report that 2011 was a landmark year. HMNA managed to set an all-time sales record under BMW care for the 2011 calendar year (achieved by the middle of November). Husqvarna is also proud to announce a worldwide market share gain from December 2008 to December 2011, from 1.09% to nearly 2%*.

"The U.S. market was definitely a bright spot on Husqvarna's global scope in 2011," said HMNA President Kris Odwarka. "Our retail registrations were up over 60% for 2011, and additionally, in our relevant segments of off-road and dual-purpose, we increased by 66%."

The HMNA dealer network also saw a very positive change last year, and national dealership locations increased by over 20% in 2011. "Putting a number value on our dealer network doesn't reflect the quality of our dealers, which is far more important than the sheer quantity," said National Sales Manager Revelle Harrison. "We've been fortunate enough to partner with great dealerships in the past several months. We're proud to be able to support them with a solid network of field staff now in place, and top-level parts fulfillment through BMW."

Over the past few years, the economic slump left many dealerships with excess inventory, but Husqvarna responded to the needs of dealers by way of three key strategies:

Sales to dealers were intentionally scaled back in 2011.

Through the support of BMW Financial Services, Husqvarna ran unparalleled sales promotions.
The 2012 model line was introduced, and made available to dealers, much earlier in the season compared to previous years.

"It's important for us to take care of our dealers because they're the ones who support the customer," said National Marketing Manager Corey Eastman. "With our market share up and our dealer network stronger than ever, it's a great jumping off point for the North American market. Our momentum has already carried over into 2012; January sales rose 122% over January 2011, which is traditionally a slower month for retail registrations.

"We are very excited about future projects at Husqvarna," Eastman continued. "Along with our concept bikes that have recently surfaced, we also have a lot of R&D going into our existing line. All models currently available in the U.S. will be all-new by model year 2015."

January 2012 Sales: BMW Motorrad records the best ever January sales figures

Hendrik von Kuenheim, General Director BMW Motorrad: “After a record year in 2011, the new year has started very pleasingly for BMW. Never before have we sold as many motorcycles in the first month of a year as in January 2012. Our fresh new model range continues to attract strong demand all over the world, and the incoming orders situation is positive, too. With the market launch of the new maxi scooters C 600 Sport and C 650 GT this spring we are expanding our range to include the facet of “Urban Mobility” and we anticipate additional growth impulse in 2012.”

At the same time as the two scooter models, BMW has six new motorcycles to offer its customers: with the G 650 GS Sertão, the revised S 1000 RR, the special boxer model R 1200 GS Rallye, the updated F 800 R and the special models of the K 1300 R and K 1300 S, BMW Motorrad continues to strengthen its extensive product portfolio.

Based on this ongoing product offensive, BMW Motorrad looks confidently ahead to the upcoming season in spite of challenging economic conditions in some countries. Once again this year, the bestseller is likely to be the big travel enduro R 1200 GS.

Husqvarna Motorcycles, the BMW Group’s second motorcycle brand, supplied 544 (previous year: 362 / + 50.3 %) motorcycles to its dealer network.

Alongside its core business in the off-road sports segments (sports enduro, motocross, supermoto), Husqvarna Motorcycles has extended its range to include street bikes with the models NUDA 900 and NUDA 900R. The brand is anticipating a significant increase in sales from the vehicles introduced to the market in December 2011.

I hear you on that one!

Husqvarna NA really needs to spend more time looking and signing new dealers OUTSIDE of Southern California.

I hear those NEW Southern California offices are real cushy and no one that works there wants to travel anymore.

I also hear they have one of those single shot expresso machines. :bonk:
