Q: I seem to have lost some pm's in the move to the new site. Are they gone forever?
A: You can now login to the old site via http://archive.thumpertalk.com to access any private messages that for whatever reason didn't
make it over to the new site.
Q: Classifes are back but they suck. What's up?
A: The old system wasn't brought over b/c it was buggy and not worth trying to make it play nice /w the nice forum software. They are back as forums today and soon we'll be adding in brand tags so at leaat you'll be able to take that the item for sale is for a Yamaha for example. Don't forget that since the classifieds are temporarly based in forums, the search box will allow you to be more specific. The plan is to rebuild a classified system that is tailor to power sports and better integrated into the site. An example might be tying your virtual garage to the classifieds. So, you go to sell your bike and to start your classifieds, you click a button and it automatically ports over your garage info into the listing. Cool stuff like that.
Q: Why did my avatar change?
A: On the old site, there was both an avatar and profile pic. On this site, they are on in the same. So, when we mapped over data, only your profile pic came over. To change your avatar/profile pic, click the down arrow to the right of your user name where you logged in.
Q: Any sort of quickstart guide that I can watch?
A: Yep. http://www.thumperta...r-the-new-site/
Q: I no longer get the topic preview text when I roll over it. Why?
A: You can, it just functions a bit differently. Watch this.
Q: How do I know if someone is online?
A: roll over their user name with your pointer
Q: My browser back button doesn't seem to work sometimes. Any help?
A: Noted by technical staff. In the interim:
1. On the right, just after the last post in a topic, there is a link that will read "Back to <forum name=""> that you're in". See this link: http://screencast.com/t/31qrmv0ZLJv
also,
2. On the left, both towards the top and bottom of the page is a breadcrumb trail. This will allow you to back up however many levels deep you happen to be
Q: Why does the site text condensed and the fonts are hard to read?
A: We've seen some display issues specifically with Internet Explorer 8 that was released in March of 2009. We highly recommend at least upgrading to IE9, but both the latest editons of Firefox and Chrome are much better. When web site technology begins to outpace browsers, it's time to upgrade. And, upgrading your browser is both free and easy.
I'll add to this list as I see common questions. Last updated 02/01/12 @ 7:52pm. Click the "follow" button if you'd like to be notified of new additions.
