Hey All, my wife needs an upgrade. She is vertically challenged, (4-11) so any big bikes are out. Definitely a 4 stroke rider with e-start. She has been riding her 125LE for 3 seasons now and getting bored with it. I have an 03 85 rolling chasis I can get for $300. We have looked at the Service Honda Junior-x which would be perfect but at $8000 that's hard to swallow. Has anyone put the 125 motor in a YZ frame? I know the fork swap, swingarm switch and all that, but you still end up with a crappy frame. I have a 05 WR250 I could donate to the cause. Maybe the WR motor in a 85 frame. Any suggestions?...........thanks

I have a TTR125 (150cc) in a BBR frame. You could buy mine at a fraction of the price of a Service Honda one.

A CRF150R would be a decent choice if you are looking to upgrade not only chassis performance but engine performance as well.

I agree with splatt. That BBR framed bike is a great deal--he's asking less than the frame costs new--but if your wife is not happy with the ttr engine, the CRF150R small wheel is about the same price, and it is more engine than the ttr ever will be. I own both bikes, and the ttr is nowhere near the same class as the crf. She'll love it...and if she ever gets tired of it, it will either sell fast or take a crf250 engine.

So a crf250 engine will fit into a crg150 frame? Bolt in or some mods?

Yes, it will fit with mods... see the CRF150R forum on the Service Honda Jr. But most likely that is down the road for you. The 150R has around 4-5 times as much power as a 125TTR. After riding them back to back, I found the TTR so weak it was a lot more difficult to ride...so slow to accelerate I didn't need the brakes on a short track.

Methinks your butt-o-meter is out of calibration. That'd put the CRF at 36 to 45 hp! :bonk:

he was exagerating, but the crf150r weighs about the same as a ttr and has more than double the power.. I think they have 22 or 23, combined with its better suspension it is a totally different bike.. on the flip side, they also cost $5k new - I am going to have to stick with my ttr
