well its running well now at 175/45 jets, ocemn needle.. still hanging idle. Im a bit at a loss now.

it starts up well, idles, no bog, rips really nice.. just hangs on idle most of the time. it doesnt pop on deccel so it doesnt seem a lean pilot. plug looks ok. maybe Ill try a 48

if I hold half throttle and let off it hangs at 2k... slowly comes down, but when it is hanging, if I crack the throttle wide open for a split second it goes all the way down to normal idle speed, like it is lean.

oh well, Im having a good time in the meanwhile :bonk:

MJ is way too rich IMO, I have an OEM FCR-MX carb with noss adapter and I'm running,

Main Jet 158
Pilot Jet (slow jet) 40 1-1/2 turns out
Pilot Air Jet 100
NCVT needle 2nd clip
0' - 1000' elevation
Air fuel ratio was calibrated using an o2 wideband sensor.

I use an adjustable leakjet but if you don't I would solder the leakjet closed or put in a #35. You should visually confirm that the stream doesn't hit the throttle valve and that it last about 1 sec in duration.

I also use the stock choke cable which works great because at half position it make the bike idle on fast idle to warm up the engine on those cold mornings.

So did you use the CV's carbs choke plunger with the tiny needle, or did you use the FCR's choke plunger (or hot start plunger) connected to the XRL's choke cable? My FCR came with a choke that has a knob, that you pull for either full on or off, no half position, so I would have to use either the CV's choke or the FCR's hot start plunger (looks like a small brass throttle valve).

I think you might find that the XRL choke cable will be less than ideal dues to the angle that it exits the carb. I tried mine on my FCR and it dod not work right. The CRF hotstart should work as it has a bend where it comes out of the carb. I am pretty sure the plungers are all the same. I have swapped the hotstart and choke plungers around on my FCR and didnt notice any difference.

Yea, I thought I read on here that the CV carbs choke plunger (which has a small needle that the FCR plunger doesn't ) didn't work right on, in, the FCR carb. I'm thinking the tiny needle is what lets you meter the choke, half on, but might not work right on the FCR. So did you use the hot start plunger as the choke and connected it to the XRL's choke cable.

I have not. I dont use the choke enough to warrant messing with it. I am pretty sure it would work though as the plungers on my FCR are interchangeable as far as I can tell.

I just used the choke plunger that came with the carb and used the rest of the stock hardware. The cable could be 1" longer it would be better but its been working almost 2 years now with no problem.
