Mitch , just remembered something else aswell . Although I didnt fit a high pipe to any of my 175`s , I did fit 2 on my xl 350`s . If you drop the bike it will smash that lovely muffler very easily . And beware , I think that could be the 210 bigbore that goes bang , greg

Very true. But the same would happen would happen to the low pipe I guess. Just gonna have to be extra careful when riding :0

And in regards to the 210 kits going bang, I sure hope they don't! Although Ive never heard of them giving trouble, it'll still be something to be careful of.

Test fitted the exhaust but ran into a snag. The problem seems to be the bracket on the frame for the rear brake light switch. The pipe sits too far to the left of the bike, and this causes the megaphone to sit to close to the frame which leaves no room for the right side shock =(

Here you can see where the pipe sits too far to the left side of the bike, not allowing the bracket to align with the P-clip on the frame.

Heres the brake switch bracket, which seems to be the culprit

Looking straight down the exhaust it doesnt appear to run straight, but kicks out towards the end of the header pipe

This pic shows how close the exhaust is to the top shock mount, theres no way a shock will fit in there

I'm not sure what I should do to fix this problem. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Well if everything goes to plan the frame and parts should be getting sandblasted and powdercoated within the next couple of weeks, which will really get the ball rolling.

Before that happens though, I need to sort out this brake light switch bracket issue. I ended up removing the bracket with an angle grinder and a cold chisel.

I also decided to remove one of the wiring harness clips off the frame, as it will be useless when the switch gets repositioned higher up.

Posted Image

I got everything nice and smooth where I removed the clip and gave it a quick spray of paint to stop the rust for now.

Posted Image

I took the angle grinder to the bracket and modified it slightly

This will be its new home on the frame

This should give enough clearance for the Hooker Header to fit nicely and still maintain a functioning brakelight. Just gotta weld it on and am also still yet to fab up a steering stop for the neck of the frame. All gotta be done before the weekend, should be sweet though hopefully :)

Couple of little updates on this project...

Rewelded the brake light switch to the frame and also fabricated a steering stop as the original one had gone walkabout.

Another important part of this project arrived today. Its a top end complete with a Henry Abe 210cc big bore kit! It should hopefully really liven the thing up, especially with the new exhaust and hopefully an aftermarket cam :)

Where's the lurker emoticon? Oh well, I'll use this one.
I sure hope you decide to go with the stock blue color. It just looks right on the up-pipe bikes just as the orange/black and red/black scheme looks right on the down-pipe bikes.
