There is a sticker on the back number plate of the 2001 model that states that it has Ti valves. Also go to http://yamaha-motor-europe.com go to the 2001 models check the brochure for the YZ/WR426, it states that the Ti valves are new for 2001.

The yamaha YZ 2001 brochure shows the Ti valves as a new feature for 2001 as well as some carb mods. Hope this helps
