I'm having trouble understanding what the manual is saying. 07 WR 450, it says to first tourque to 22lbs then take them out regrease and retighten in a x cross to 14lbs.... But then the notes also say after that to mark the bolt and the head then turn the bolt 90 degrees in each of the two steps to reach the specified angle of 180 degrees.... So is the final tourque 14lbs? 22lbs? or 14 and then another 180 degrees? thanks in advance!:bonk:

It first says tighten to 22lbs then remove and regrease, then it says NOTE "retighten to the specified tourque in two or three steps in the proper sequence", then the next block reads Bolt Cylinder Head to 14lbs: put a mark on the corner of the bolt and also the cyliner head as shown.; NOTE "Tighten the bolts 90 degrees in each of the two steps to reach the specified angle of 180 degrees in the proper tightening sequence as shown." the picture just shows the bolts being rotated

- 22lbs then remove and grease (actually, you want to use 'anti-seize')
- re-install (do not move gasket!) and torque to 14
- then turn each bolt once, in a star pattern, 90 degrees, and repeat once

Ok, easy enough. So 14lbs, and then basically another 1/2 turn by doing 1/4 then another 1/4 in a star... correct?

Yes. 22 ft/lbs, remove, 14 ft/lbs + two 1/4 turns :bonk:

The final torque is 14lbs plus and additional 180 degrees.

But after you regrease and go to 14lbs, don't just turn it 180. Turn all 4 90 degrees, then 90 degrees again.
